The great irony of the Max8 disaster is that all the cost cutting and shortcuts and using software to compensate for a design problem was the result of shareholder primacy management.
The ONLY goal of this management style is to maximize shareholder value.
It backfired spectacularly πŸ™„.

…also, I don’t think I’ve ever met a tankie, someone rooting for the tanks in either of the scenarios you mentioned πŸ€”.

You actually described Left and Right pretty well. I think the terms are still useful, especially in a historical context.
Getting back to the original post, Communism is on the Left.
Fascism is on the Right.

They don’t use terms like β€˜vertical’ and β€˜horizontal’ but I think it essentially describes the same thing.
I thought you said the Left-Right political spectrum didn’t exist?

Have the government feed your workforce, so you can give all the profits to the shareholders, and get that big bonus! πŸ’° πŸ˜‰ πŸ‘

Why Do "Left" And "Right" Mean Liberal And Conservative? During election years, the words left and right often bring to mind the political spectrum than they do directions in space. But where do these associations come from?

You know how to use Google, right? www.dictionary.com/e/leftright/

Yes, it comes from the French Revolution. So you’re right about that πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

LOL πŸ˜„
So what do the tankies believe?

04.11.2025 20:28 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

…different political ideologies are associated with each side.

04.11.2025 20:14 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

You’re wrong, it DOES tell you that.

The Right generally believes society should organized vertically. With the most deserving on top with the most wealth and power. And least deserving on the bottom.

The Left generally believes in a more horizontal structure. With a more equal distribution.

04.11.2025 20:13 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

So Democratic-Socialists are tankies?

04.11.2025 19:59 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

What’s a tankie?
And what if your face wasn’t under someone’s boot?
What if you lived in a more just and fair society than we have now?

04.11.2025 19:32 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No. I mean you can use these terms to identify different ways of looking at human beings and human nature. There ARE largely two identifiable groups.

04.11.2025 16:41 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I disagree.
The terms β€˜Left’ and β€˜Right’ are in fact useful for describing different ways of thinking about humanity.

FDR’s New Deal policies have been described as Socialist by people on the right.
Democratic-Socialism seems work pretty well in several countries.

A group of angry right-wing billionaires with their think tanks (Heritage Foundation, etc) and agents (Grover Norquist, Leonard Leo, etc) did this to the United States.

They must be very proud of themselves.
LOL πŸ˜„

National-Socialism is not Communism.
It’s not even Socialism.

National-Socialism (Nazi) is Fascism, and is on the right side of the political spectrum.
Communism and socialism are on the left.

When people would say that taxes on the rich are just punishing success, I would laugh and laugh, it seemed hilarious πŸ˜„.

Now I’m starting to think we actually NEED a Punishment tax, for people like Musk 😑

When I refer to Left and Right I’m talking about economic policy.
The Democratic Party was DEFINITELY further Left then than it is now.

FDR and Biden were elected president. Bernie was not, he’s one Senator from Vermont.

Also, you missed my point, which was that the Democratic Party was much further Left 80 years ago than it is now.
