EU suspends US trade war countermeasures while pushing for tariff deal European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says the EU is negotiating for the best, but preparing for the worst.

🇪🇺President Von der Leyen has decided - the EU's first reaction to Trump's threatening letter is (for now) surrender.

The retaliatory tariffs scheduled to take effect Tuesday will be again delayed to not antagonise the US during continued negotiations.

The EU has not yet found its spine.
