How Can We Live Together? - Boston Review Ezra Klein is wrong: shame is essential.

“Much about what Ezra Klein argues is objectionable,”—including “the appeal to debate as ’persuasion,’ which confuses the mere appearance of giving and responding to reasons with the substance of good-faith rational inquiry,” writes columnist @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social.

"Our development as rational agents is never wholly self determined. We come into a world where certain meanings have already been decided before we have had the chance to evaluate them according to our individual powers of judgement."(p.150)

Haha well i am working on a series which is gonna discuss Hayek at length so I disagree! We live in Hayek's world, whether we like it or not. All the interesting parts have nothing to do with his conflict with Keynes tho

this isn't hard to understand. the left believes in consistent things like 'everyone should have healthcare' and 'human rights are good' while the right has to encompass everything from traditional family values conservatism to overt nazi shit to seed oil antivax conspiracism and gamergate incels
