I now realize that I probably shouldn't have blamed the bodega on my corner for selling milk went bad so quickly.

When I moved into my last apartment, I was livid at my new neighbors, their alarm that went off at the most random times, and how it took them forever to turn it off. Then *months later* I discovered that if I didn't close my refrigerator door fully, an alarm rang. It was my goddamn fridge.

I'm so glad I clicked through and discovered you wrote the comparison and weren't mocking someone for making the comparison. AND, even better, you made such a great point that I wish professional and casual critics would heed. (I'd throw in Southland Tales and Spielberg's AI to the convo.)

If only Democrats were fascists, then we'd get what we wanted. Because then fascism would be fine, because it would be our fascism. And we'd never do anything wrong.

For the love of god, if you haven't even read more than a headline, don't pretend you know what the decision actually does or says or what the case was even about.

I know they say it because they hate women and think the most important indicator of intelligence is agreeing with them, but when the dopes on the right say @aoc.bsky.social isn't smart ... it's just really weird. She's very, very, very smart.

These lists are stupid and incomplete, but they're also kind of fun?

I was rolling my eyes at Megan McArdle's WaPo column about the BlueSky echo chamber yesterday, and then I looked at my feed today, and I saw the terrible straw man arguments, and Jesus H. Christ, I need to get some acoustic dampeners.

I don't care if these monstrous ICE raids are a "federal operation". This is authoritarian violence, plain and simple.

Just because Stephen Miller has kidnapping quotas for brown people he doesn't want to see on the street doesn't mean we have to think it's okay.

Here’s an idea: Stop acting like the Gestapo.

I really, really wish students wouldn't give me money as thanks for writing letters of recommendation for them. It's my duty and my job, and I'm not paid poorly. I appreciate the gratitude and impetus, but it's so effed up that the culture convinced Gen Z a rec letter is worth a $50 AmEx gift card.

Yes, I am fully aware of how you want Vulture to give you everything for free in a BlueSky advertisement for their content so you don't have to spend a second going to their site and reading one sentence.

"Netflix" is the fifth word in the first sentence of the review. Social media posts from publications are meant to drive people to the sites so that they can earn advertising money so that they can stay in business. If you want everything for free, just pirate the shows, too.

Social media didn't exist when we created laws that banned massive gifts to government employees from people who can benefit from the employees' actions. If terms and accuracy matter, then you should spend more than 15 seconds on your hot takes so that you don't post nonsense like this.

What DEI threatens isn’t merit. It’s monopoly. Political science professor Hakeem Jefferson argues for DEI's importance to de-monopolizing universities.

A colleague at Stanford’s business school used The Stanford Daily to argueβ€”poorlyβ€”against DEI. The piece was riddled with historical errors and left one searching for fact, so I broke my public writing hiatus to respond.

I hope you’ll read and share the piece.

The first people on BlueSky that I ever blocked were the people who were enraged that "big accounts" didn't follow them back. If anyone deserves to be limited, it's people who declare that everyone on social media MUST read and reply to their @s. No. Nope. Nyet.

I'm sure this person whining about having to pay for content was sipping a $5 cup of coffee. Subscribing to newspapers and magazines is how those things stay in business.

Very online millennials acting as if they are the only people who have ever suffered multiple catastrophic historical events ... is so incredibly stupid.

The very online left is so determined to avoid coalition building, compromise, and workable policy proposals that it's hard for me not to conclude they're not infiltrated by COINTELPRO.

We need to amplify thisβ€”the Republican House refused Secretary Buttigieg’s request for safety improvements at Reagan International.

This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942.

I know. I was there in those camps.

I entered various LGBT keywords terms in the CDC search portal, and 90% of the pages that were listed led to "The page you're looking for was not found." I think it's pretty clear that the other 10% will vanish in hours.

I found myself unwilling to do anything on my to do list, so I started playing Genshin Impact, which is the first game of its kind I've ever touched. I'm entranced by its astonishing nonsense.
