Bruce Fanjoy:
Statement Regarding the Return to Office Policy
February 9*, 2026
On February 5th, 2026, the federal government announced an updated Return-to-Office
(RTO) policy for federal public servants. Today, I am calling upon the government to reconsider this policy for the following reasons:
1. The new RTO policy makes it harder to achieve the government's priorities of reducing the operating cost of government, improving affordability, and respecting the environment. Instead, it will cost both the government and citizens more and increase pollution.
2. There is little to no evidence that a one-size-fits-all RTO policy will improve productivity or service to Canadians.
3. The RTO policy makes it harder for public servants to balance work with other responsibilities.
I believe Canada is better served by a hybrid model that balances a mix of in-office and remote work. The right balance is flexible and depends on circumstances. Done well, a hybrid model reduces the cost of government and benefits workers and all Canadians.
To my constituents in Carleton, I hear you. I will continue to press for solutions that work for you and all Canadians.
Sincerely,
Bruce Fanjoy

In the 2013 movie βHer,β people fell in love with their AI operating systems. After the shine wore off of the relationships, the AI entities collectively decided people just werenβt their thing and ghosted humanity all at once.
Cool ass movie.

Anyone living with chronic illness has at least one horror story of being gaslit, dismissed or infantilized by a doctor. Many have numerous stories, yet non disabled people often doubt us
The comments on this Reddit post about EDS, MCAS & POTS show why many disabled people refuse to go to hospital:

Given the proposed mask ban in New York, now feels like a good time to remind folks that disability advocates in Illinois are trying to codify the right to wear masks into law
If successful this could be a critical step in protecting the right to mask across the US
See below for how you can help!

Almost no ME/CFS patients return to work
"The help we have provided to patients through the welfare and healthcare systems has had little rehabilitative effect," says a researcher.

βI donβt know anyone with Long Covid!β
I promise you that you do.
Long Covid is an invisible illness. You wonβt know someone is impacted unless they choose to tell you.
Many folks hide their disabilities because the world is NOT kind to disabled people. Be an ally. Be someone we can confide in

It's been great to see the influx of people from the ME/CFS and long Covid community in the last week.
Here's a starter pack by @chromatowski.bsky.social that's worth checking out:

Opinion: Long COVID is solvable, but we need more clinical trials
Some people may remain ill after COVID infection because the virus still lurks in their bodies. The looming question now is: Who will pay for drug development and trials?
PolyBio president Dr. Amy Proal outlines the direction that research must take to address long COVID in her new op-ed for @latimes.com: βThe urgency of long COVID is a call to arms for government and private funders to help bring medications and protocols to the people who need them.β

I donβt know what comes next, but I know Canadians will rise to the challenge. We will continue to extend a hand in friendship to our American neighbours. We know most of you donβt want this either.
We will stand proud and remain true to our values always. We will overcome /13

I want to commend Trudeau for stating that itβs important that βno one part of the country should carry a heavier burden than any other. Weβre all in this together and we will get through this together.β
Thatβs the Canadian way. We donβt abandon one another. We come together.

It would be such a relief to be able to just trust. Trust a doctor, trust a family member, trust a co-worker.
Having to be skeptical and plan ahead at every step is such a burden to bear.

βI dread the feeling of realising I forgot to do somethingβ β doctors continue to work despite being mentally unwell
More than six in 10 doctors in Ireland say they have continued to work despite not feeling mentally well, according to a new survey.
Welcome to #longCOVID world.
What's worse than a huge chunk of highly-skilled workers in life-critical industries suffering from COVID-induced cognitive impairment?
When it happens and *nobody is telling them what's happening, why, or how to protect themselves*.

Good explanation of mechanisms behind PEM in LC.
I do think they meant to say there's no cure for LC, not that there's no treatment ;)
