Oh yeah.

Oh yeah.
13.10.2025 14:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0No idea about the song. That's a lightning bolt.
13.10.2025 14:32 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Wait what happened now
13.10.2025 14:32 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Harry Potter and Ziggy Stardust with the Sig runes on their faces.
13.10.2025 14:28 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I've heard that people have been registering R "in droves." I don't know who's selling that nonsense, but people on the ground do very much believe it. So when it inevitably turns out to be wrong, it's a conspiracy.
13.10.2025 13:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is a Zoomer (and I guess Millennial) tic that's all over the place, though. I first noticed it with Pro-Pal. accounts that called out headlines that obscured the agent of an act while clearly *not* using the passive voice. The usage seems to have spread.
13.10.2025 13:20 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I donโt mean just in this case, just in response to this sentiment whenever I see it expressed.
13.10.2025 11:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Itโs crazy because with all the โspiritualโ people heโs surrounded himself with, โrepent and believe in the Gospelโ is not something he seems to be aware of. it seems so easy, and yetโฆ
13.10.2025 10:59 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Okay I see what yโall mean.
13.10.2025 01:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I teach international students at a major research university. None of the Trump voters we all know can understand why we might dislike whatโs going on.
13.10.2025 01:38 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0At the risk of sounding ignorant, isnโt that wing the dominant one even if those two names arenโt?
13.10.2025 01:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0My BIL is French with green card. So great that my sister has to constantly worry about anything he says on social media or whether their paperwork ever has a single tiny lapse or he gets a traffic ticket.
13.10.2025 01:33 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Tremendous description of Dick Tracy (1990).
13.10.2025 01:27 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was like 8 when it came out and itโs still one If my favorites. My brother and me were Dick Tracy and Sam Catchโem for Halloween in 1990.
13.10.2025 01:24 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Like I could be wrong but I seem to recall their official platform was very โleftโ on that specific issue.
12.10.2025 22:25 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Itโs crazy because for me at least, hostility towards immigrants in the GOP was one off the reasons I was attracted to ASP and voted for their candidates a few times.
12.10.2025 22:24 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0What matters though is where they stood before January.
11.10.2025 21:17 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah, but gonna go out on a limb and say this kind of racism is not alien to Europe.
11.10.2025 20:50 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I want to see confirmation on this before I share it with IRL people, but itโs the most plausible thing in the world
11.10.2025 17:15 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Another cool thing is trying to deduce which of my students are in danger of not just academic trouble, but immigration trouble if I report them. Good news for Iranians, I guess.
11.10.2025 14:52 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0There weren't random laypeople in like 1700 going "erm what about the Bull of Parma in 1172"?
11.10.2025 14:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I mean yeah, but also I wasn't there in like 1650, and I'm not a trained theologian or a trained historian. There's no specific reason for lay people to even know about some papal bull from like 1200โthis is a function of an Internet society.
11.10.2025 14:50 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It's just so funny to imagine that back in the good old days they only cared about saving souls. Yeah, that's the ticket.
11.10.2025 14:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I love how because of AI I have to go through and meticulously check all the sources my students cite in their essays to see if they're fake or not (they're fake depressingly often). So much time saved, thanks Sam!
11.10.2025 14:39 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Exactly.
11.10.2025 14:37 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0"Popes and bishops today are subject to worldly influence, unlike in the 14th century!"
11.10.2025 14:37 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1But even more than specifically papal teaching, the vast majority of the world's bishops are on the same page as the pope on all the matters that these people object to.
11.10.2025 14:36 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I mean it's also flatly true that someone alive today does not have access to the full context of any past statement, and is unable to evaluate, for example, how much a role worldly concerns played. It sounds Orwellian, but only the Magisterium can authoritatively interpret the Magisterium.
11.10.2025 14:36 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0This is especially true when we're talking about a machine that by nature cannot possibly "know" anything and can only curate and regurgitate existing human views.
11.10.2025 13:18 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The real problem here is the illusion that an LLM can represent some Platonic "unbiased" view on a given subject; aside from God Himself, no one and no thing can have a complete, comprehensive, objective view of reality as it is. An LLM will *always* exhibit some perspective, some bias.
