I must say, #Pop!_OS and its #COSMIC desktop has put some zing into my computing day. Still learning the keyboard shortcuts, but Iβve had a couple of very productive days. The new desktop is energizing! Thanks, @system76.bsky.social
19.11.2025 04:52 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0A screenshot shows a split-screen view with a web browser on the left displaying the System76 Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS Beta Download page and a terminal window on the right showing system information on a freshly installed Pop!_OS system. The browser shows a vibrant banner image featuring white text reading Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS Beta Download over a stylized landscape with magenta and orange gradients, purple crystalline mountains, and a white and turquoise rocket ship centered in the composition. Below appears the heading POP!_OS IS GETTING BETA with descriptive text about the new COSMIC desktop environment and a VIEW FEATURES link, followed by upgrade instructions from Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS. The right terminal displays hyfetch output with cyan and blue ASCII art showing the Pop!_OS logo alongside detailed system specifications for usrbinkat@mithril, listing Pop!_OS trixie/sid noble on a Precision 7750 host with kernel 6.16.3, 9 hours 40 minutes uptime, COSMIC wayland desktop environment, bash 5.2.21 shell, Intel i7-10875H processor, NVIDIA Quadro T1000 Mobile and Intel UHD Graphics, 15.60 of 125.31 gigabytes memory used, and Dell BIOS version 1.29. Below the system information, htop process monitor shows active processes including cosmic-applet-minion and cosmic-comp, with system resource graphs displaying CPU, memory, and swap usage across multiple cores. A color palette bar appears beneath the hyfetch output showing the terminal's color scheme. This screenshot documents the successful completion of the dual-boot installation journey begun in the previous image, now showing Pop!_OS Beta with the new COSMIC desktop environment running natively on the Dell Precision 7750 workstation. Showing off the journey from aspiration to reality, with the detailed system information confirming proper hardware detection and the space-themed branding maintaining visual continuity between download and deployment phases of the Linux installation experience.
Pop_OS! is among the best distros in 2025 if we're being serious.
Good job @system76.bsky.social πππ
Yep! You're already technically on the new version, so just perform your updates once we've released and you're golden!
11.11.2025 17:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yep! You should be able to just hit a button in the "Updates & OS Recovery" Settings page once it's released :)

29.10.2025 16:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am currently evaluating Arch Linux (not my first rodeo, TBH) and Cosmic OS. It really does seem as though @system76.bsky.social has done an awesome job!
Yes, it is still a beta, but you'd hardly know it. It's fully functioning and snappy.

Upgrading to @system76.bsky.social Cosmic beta. Love their UI approach, eager to experience this next incarnation!
11.10.2025 19:13 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks so much! We're really hyped on our end too for people to see what COSMIC is all about. Great things are happening!
10.10.2025 19:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love this laptop. Had the opportunity to work on it for a few weeks and it's a pleasure to use. Wonderful screen. Wonderful keyboard. AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 & NVIDIA RTX 5070 make a perfect combination. I like my 14" Darter but I can feel the tug from this one.
09.10.2025 18:01 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Sure is! Just open up the terminal and run this command:
pop-upgrade release upgrade -f

With the interface rebuilt in Rust code, it's now more stable, secure, and will become even more performant as we continue to optimize COSMIC in its current state.
From System76 CEO and Founder Carl Richell: Interesting fact: AMD+NVIDIA hybrid laptops require Wayland. This is because the latest AMD Radeon integrated GPUs are not VGA compatible and hybrid won't work in that configuration on X11 (everything runs on the dGPU).
Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS provides a better hybrid graphics experience, especially for this laptop. With the new COSMIC desktop environment, the GPU remains off until you specify to use it for the app you're launching.

The Oryx Pro will be the first laptop preloaded with the Pop!_OS beta. Also equipped:
-New 2K display (16:10, 240Hz)
-NVIDIA RTX 5070 graphics
-Our fastest mobile CPU offering
-Silver color, aluminum build
Thank you so much! Glad you're loving it. We'll pass this along π
