So the class of 2025 spoiled me rotten. I will never underestimate the time and effort they put in to saying thank you. And goddammit they always make me cry.

Between my two 30+ classes of year 11, all my one to one tutees and my 3 groups a week online tutees, I feel like I have taught half the country this GCSE…and I am thinking of every one of them.

I don’t think he will. He is too West Coast compared to Diddy’s East Coast!

Help!!! Has anyone who does OCR English got a copy of the 2024 paper 2 they could send me. Or even just a photo of the inserts. Want to help one of my tutees with some feedback.

Of course I jumped on the bandwagon.

I am feeling heartbroken today @missdcox.bsky.social was one of the great ones, someone who was quietly supportive from afar and I will treasure my last message for its poignancy. But we should celebrate Dawn and her impact on Education; I have learnt so much from her. I’ll miss her ❤️❤️

Roy, I am so sorry. She really was exceptional, so supportive and just brilliant at being her. I had my last hug in Manchester a few weeks ago and I will treasure it. You have so much love from the teaching community xxxx

Some days I am dead proud of the small grown up part of me that is forward thinking. Although the ‘bugger it if it rains, I’m wearing 80s style flared jeans’ teenage part of me was strong today.

The sun is out so I am sat outside the coffee shop and the rest of Manchester has put their big parkas away and put on their shorts.

Friday. Really, my peak level of excitement is that there is a new serial killer documentary on Netflix.

Looking for something else and I found this letter. There is nothing like teaching to provide physical evidence that you matter for those moments when you need a pep talk.

My birthday is in half term and today was the last day in school, so my department proper spoilt me. Year 11, who had to sit their Literature mock this morning, said they were going to smash it as a birthday treat. I am so grateful that I work with such brilliant people ❤️❤️❤️

We are at the point of tiredness in the week where I couldn’t understand why this wasn’t turning on the tv.

One of the things I love about Manchester are the many random shops that have fridges full of drinks from around the world, so here is my NY tipple of choice. Lush.

Struggling a bit with the inbetween Christmas and New Year blues, so have come out and am treating myself to the best Pea and Shallot Ravioli ever for my tea.

I made it home ok, but someone has definitely nicked the towers over Christmas.

It’s my yearly visit to a football match. I made my nephew look up from his phone for a selfie. I believe we are the team in blue.

For the past two Christmases I haven’t put up a tree because it felt sad and pointless on my own, but this year I have decided to reclaim Christmas, because I like sparkly things, for me.

Christmas jumper day. My favourite moment being when one year 11 said to another, ‘Miss is giving me an epileptic fit moving about in that sparkly jacket’
