I will be on a KC Community Radio show tomorrow morning talking about the grassroots campaign to keep CoreCivic from opening their troubled private prison as an ICE detention center.

Private prison contractor CoreCivic thought they could run roughshod over Leavenworth, Kansas. The courts said "no" and granted a temporary restraining order preventing CoreCivic from housing ICE detainees in their long shuttered private prison. A big victory for local land use planning.

Both sides have lost faith in the good faith of the opposition. Both sides need to earn the others respect by right living and delivering results that improve people's lives. There is a broad consensus we need to draw together and build some agreed upon solutions. We can only go there together.

Fake news! Trump won't walk anywhere.

If we want to retake the house after the midterms we need to be forward looking and welcome disillusioned Trump voters who don't like what they're seeing. It's better to win than to be right.

The drive to authoritarianism is faltering. Lies and bluster will only carry you so far.
