Me too. I thought it was too CW, but now it's gelling for me.

Dehumanizing other humans should never be normalized. It’s 2026: genocides and wat are immoral. Grow the fuck up, fascist assholes.

No. They weren't on to begin with because I'm not asking anyone outside of my circle. You'll be alright.

I feel the same way when men write from women’s points of view and have a female main character. I won’t read those books anymore.

I’ll do a legit job when I take it off to wash it. It’s holding together after one washing. No kids or dog, but 4 cats! It’s white, so I feel like air gets it dirty! 🤪

I think using the term humanity is obfuscating the true culprits. Me throwing out wilted greens DOES NOT EQUAL Exxon Mobil Chevron BP’s destruction of the planet. I drive 2-3000mi/year GCE.

This is crazy. I don’t use Google products, but I don’t know if this applies to all digital office platforms.

I have a few small places, but mostly fabric for furniture not clothing. Very sad. Spoon flower hasn’t been great for me either. The wallpaper is great. I use Etsy, too! We have Britex in SF. Very, very high quality and expensive. I should see if they have high quality cotton jersey.

Bee-boop, bee-boop. They are also my favorites. My hay and feed used to have them and then they stopped carrying all birds. Now my cats and I watch the house finches and lesser goldfinch at my bird feeders. Wild song birds fill me with joy.

I'll take the leap! But I don't even know what fabrics stores are around anymore. Joann went out a few years back. I'll start with jersey because I badly stained a dress (which I loved) and I need to recreate it.

I see my first impulse was totally wrong! You sew the piping to the top, the more difficult part to sew, so that the top looks crisp. Then you attach the sewn-together column.

I might cheat here, because I'm not sure my draping/cutting will line up. I need to serge first anyway. 📍

Your mom was your couturier! Because trim is everything. I have books with photos of Victorian dresses and the exquisite detail makes the dresses. Time and talent is what makes couture so expensive. I aspire.

❤️ Straight sewing is everyone's nemesis, even with a machine. I cheat. I leave the pins in and sacrifice my machine needles on occasion. I have a magnet the keep the fabric running at exactly the right seam allowance. And I go slowly so I can course correct with shifts, caused by fabric weight.

#Sewing #Sewist Anyone slipcover folks out there? I need help with a foam stool. What order do I sew?

Column shape. There's piping around the circular top. Do I attach the piping to the column fabric whilst flat? Then fiddle with sewing the the circular shape? Glued foam and batting underneath. 🫠

This is so impressive to me. I need to bite the bullet and learn how to sew stretchy fabrics. I'm so petrified that for the last 50 years I've only done things like linen and cotton which only have a bit of give on the bias.

I have some thread and needles from my grandmother. They're from the City of Paris, which operated from the 1850s in Union Square. Some of this could have come from her mother or grandmother (arrived in SF c.1845). The spools are silk and very durable cotton, almost like coating thread. LUCKY!

This make me mad for you. And it's a great way to look at prices. You compare the item against how much you make per hour. You can even think of it this way: Is this items worth X amount of hours of my life.

Also, I hope they are feeding you for free at work (or at least you get the spoilage). ❤️

When I look at something moderately pretty and then look at the fabric tag, I'm all, "No way I'm paying $75 for this fabric which cost pennies." In the last two years, I've bought a new pair of denim jeans, cotton undies, and 5 new tank tops. I'm trying ribbed bc those tiny pinholes drive me insane.

Oh heavens this made me laugh. I love that you love this. The 70s were WILD. I'm glad when fun things circle back around. My era is a few decades earlier. I love a dress.

I think handwork is joyful. I'm 100000% over the whole AI thing. Glad I'm retiring from tech in the next few years. I can't take it anymore. Fast becoming an analog girlie.

This is gorgeous. And such a cool idea. Great way to practice since I haven't done embroidery in more than a decade.
