Great Barracuda from July 2024, now updated with lighting done with underwater highlights, a coral reef environment and the multiply and add layer methods to the barracuda

Spotted Eagle Ray, from June 2024 with updated shadows, and dynamic lighting to make the ocean look more opaque.

Decided to play around with lighting for some blue focused artworks I made from this year and last year.

A redraw of that one infamous scene in Madoka Magica. This is my Splatoon OC Tierra, an inkling, during Salmon Run! And this was in the point of view from the jaws of a Cohozuna (King Salmonid); although it would have been more appropriate if it were a Horrorboros. This was drawn before the Horrorboros was even released, so... Tierra is evidently horrified as she awaits her fate in front of the giant King Salmonid in front of her.

Pose/Photo References and...Stick Figures! ✨

We often overcomplicate things to try and make them more impressive or unique...but using the bare minimum building blocks (stick figures + shapes) can actually do wonders to break harder stuff down!

Start simple! Get creative!

Waiting for aimless motivation can be a pain, but if we have some sort of direction or structure, it can help push us to do more of what we want to do!

Know what you want to accomplish
Set small, reasonable goals
And step away sometimes when you need a break from drawing!

An example: In 2019, I set myself up with a challenge called the "Monday Upload"!

It didn't matter what I made, the only rule was I HAD to draw and post something every Monday that year, all 52 weeks.

Making that goal, it pushed my motivation to stick to it, even when it got tough!

You can't always force motivation to draw! Some days we're tired, some days things happen, and the harder we push, the harder it becomes to get ourselves to draw.

Part of it is taking breaks when necessary, and part of it is creating a routine or assignment for yourself! (Continued)

THIS. Frustration tolerance is the key to getting good at anything at all, not just art. Socials media makes it so easy to compare yourself to others, but you just have to ignore that and have fun with your little drawings. Do it enough and you'll eventually get better through trial and error.
