KEXP is currently airing the Kermit The Frog version of Once in a Lifetime and it is healing me a little bit.

(I should write in and request Blinding Lights (Rizzo's Version))

The general undercurrent of dread and anxiety I'm feeling is more sinister and noticeable today, which makes me wonder what other shoe is about to drop.

I have two most memorable POTGs:

1) Booping 5 people off the map on Ilios as Lucio (just right into the big hole in the center of the map! all five of em in one boop!)
2) Getting a 5k in Stadium as Juno w/ torpedos

So anyway I panic cleaned for a bit and put out a mouse trap, but I just heard a noise again and didn't see anything when I went to check. I wish he would simply not

I've had problems with mice in the past. Tonight I heard something in my kitchen and when I went to check caught either a large mouse or a rat (!) skedaddling to the part of the wall where the plumber cut away drywall to replace washing machine pipes a couple years ago.

Can we build the dog? What resource-constrained teams need to ask before writing a line of code

Building software is easier than ever. The real risk to your team isn't the build; it's the long tail of maintenance. I built a rubric to help teams spot hidden risks and achieve shared understanding of the complexity before they write a single line of code. werd.io/can-we-build...

Sedgwick’s prescription is β€œreparative reading,” a theory of more flexible sense-making that can hold truth and provide an antidote to the overwhelming paranoia of our times. While the conventional wisdom states, β€œJust because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean you don’t have enemies,” Sedgwick turns this formula on its head: β€œJust because you have enemies doesn’t mean you have to be paranoid.” Or to put it another way, having a direct understanding of systemic oppression (the healthcare system, police violence, the fascist state) does not condemn a person to a categorically paranoid point of view. To practice a worldview more expansive and more open to possibilities than paranoia does not mean you have to deny the reality or gravity of oppression.

Feeling paranoid about stochastic violence and weaponized media? Me too. That's why I can't stop thinking about this incredibly helpful essay by @littlewow.online in @flaminghydra.com about the idea of "reparative reading" as a corrective to the "paranoid style." flaminghydra.com/issue-511/

A stressed looking white woman with blonde and gray hair looking directly at the phone with her hand in her forehead and no visible indicator of mood other than a sort of quiet desperation in her eyes, also her lip makeup has long since worn off and her shoulders are hunched, and it's just a real bad time ok

a digital collage with a pink, purple, green, yellow, and teal gradient overlaid on all the images. the images include a horse carrying a bucket, a cluster of mushrooms, a grub, a birds talon, a cicada, five spiders, two flower buds, a hand with an eye over the back of it, and a microscope slide of atoms. there is white text that reads "get weirder or die miserable." the background is black and there is a slightly grainy texture

The Legend Of Zelda didn’t create a genre, but it did help define it 40 years ago The Legend Of Zelda helped introduce the then-young action RPG genre to a generation of video game fans.

My latest for @theavclubgames.bsky.social is on the 40th anniversary of original The Legend of Zelda, and its role as a streamliner of the complicated, demanding, and burgeoning action RPG. This classic did not come out of nowhere, but was to action RPGs what Dragon Quest was for turn-based ones.

How do we wrap up the 100th Black History Month? For me Black History is every day, but February is the BLACKEST history month.

So I guess I wanna talk Black self-determination throughout our sojourn here.

Believe or not, it starts in 1526.

Sure, 1619 is the year we acknowledge but...
