On September 16, the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club will organize a panel discussion about the country’s efforts to create a defense industrial supply chain. We will be joined by Rupert Hammond-Chambers of @ustaiwan.bsky.social and Cathy Fang of DSET.

Language: primarily English; Cheng will speak in Mandarin and TFCC chair Thompson Chau will interpret.

As the Kuomintang’s leadership race heats up, the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club will be hosting two KMT insiders - former legislator and govt spox Cheng Li-Wun, and ex-KMT official and adviser to the 2024 presidential candidate Professor Tso Chen-Dong - for a discussion.

Hsiao was elected as Taiwan’s vice president in January 2024, after serving as de facto ambassador to the U.S., a senior advisor to the president at the National Security Council, and four terms as a lawmaker in the national legislature.
