China’s CO2 emissions have been flat or falling for past 18 months, analysis finds World’s biggest polluter on track to hit peak emissions target early but miss goal for cutting carbon intensity

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.

It can feel so fucking grim to be trans right now, and last week really showed that there IS a way through this. We are resilient, and there are way more of us than there are of them.

The reason why I'm so angry has a lot to do with the lives that will be lost β€” people are absolutely going to die as a direct result of Senate Democrats folding on health care. It also has a lot to do with the suffering that was endured β€” people were struggling to get by without food assistance. 🧡

Why didnβ€˜t you deny unanimous consent, then? Why arenβ€˜t you voting to oust Schumer as minority leader?

It's me again, just putting it out there that I am going to need space in 2026 for at least 5 events that can hold at least 100 people. Looking for accessible and also CHEAP spaces in NYC. None of the convenings will be charging people to participate. Thank you.

Petitioner asks us to grant review in this case to reconsider United States v. Kagama, 118 U. S. 375 (1886). Kagama helped usher into our case law the theory that the federal government enjoys β€œplenary power” over the internal affairs of Native American Tribes. It is a theory that should make this Court blush. Not only does that notion lack any foundation in the Constitution; its roots lie instead only in archaic prejudices. This Court is responsible for Kagama, and this Court holds the power to correct it. We should not shirk from the task.

Justices Gorsuch and Thomas, who never agree on anything concerning federal Indian law, agree that the federal government doesn't have plenary power over Native nations. This is a remarkable joint statement that should lead Justice Thomas to revisit a hell of a lot of things he has previously said

And I've been doing politics for long enough to know clearly that the entire Senate Democratic caucus agreed to this decision to fold. Open your eyes. The 8 who "broke" did so with the complete blessing of Schumer and their colleagues. You don't have to play along because this is not a game. The end

Though Trump’s pardons can’t extend to state crimes, I think it’s worth pointing out the message being conveyed:

Trump’s allies are alleged to have stolen data from state voting systems in an effort to help him overturn an election he lost.

Now he’s pardoning them for it.

Ezra Levin on Bluesky: β€œImportant to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.”

This isn’t just about the eight Senate Democrats who surrendered. πŸ‘‡

We cannot afford a divided and weak opposition party when an authoritarian is invading our cities, terrorizing our communities, and corruptly self-enriching at the expense of the rest of us.

We want to celebrate a Democratic Party that fights back. But after this latest surrender, the next step is primaries and new leadership. We get the party we demand, and we intend to demand one that fights.

As a disabled, queer, Black person, I am happy people are finally seeing the complicity of both sides but it’s infuriating to see people finally get it after everyone cast people like me aside because it was quite easy to see if people paid attention instead if prioritizing their β€œmental health”

The right cannot be "fixed." It must be defeated. The same is true of Dems like Schumer. They cannot be cajoled into serving a better set of interests. They are constitutionally incapable, and what's more, they don't want to. We aren't part of their priority set.

10.11.2025 04:16 β€” πŸ‘ 355    πŸ” 79    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 1

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

The coordinated nature of thisβ€”none are facing voters in 2026β€”means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

ERISA won't save you. The ACA market entering a death spiral will cause massive failures in the health care delivery system. Even more hospitals will close. Rural clinics will go under. Entire practices will be sold to venture capital.

Please understand that Americans who have a serious chronic illness essentially have no where to run to.

(The immigration rules of countries with the kind of health care system it takes to keep me alive deny me admission because I'm seriously chronically ill, and, therefore, a 'drain on resources')
