@janeespenson.bsky.social Thanks for the one long email chain comment on the Humanitas session today. It was a good reminder for me, and I immediately went and fixed an email that I was about to send. :-)

For the evening crowd...

New Writing and Whatnot blog post all about my workflow and the sites I use instead of Substack.

You do you, but I don't like supporting hate speech. You can't say there isn't another way... I'm giving them to you here. writingandwhatnot.com/blog/diy-new...

What is Gainrep? Can anyone tell me? Because I keep getting email requests to endorse people I’ve never even met.

How do we feel about modern adaptations? I just finished Katie Bernet’s BETH IS DEAD. She’s a brilliant writer, and I was sucked into the story. It also made me incredibly nostalgic for the original.

The cover for the novel β€œThe Grimoire of Grave Fates.” The tile is on a circle in the lower middle set within a depiction of a gargoyle. On the top is the phrase, β€œTwenty hours. Eighteen students. One murderer.” On the bottom is, β€œCreated by Hanna Alkaf and Margaret Owen.”

Who has read the collaborative novel THE GRIMOIRE OF GRAVE FATES? I need to know more. How did it come together? Did the editors have an outline & assign roles? Was there a writers’ room? Did the authors each come up with a character and it was worked out from there? So. Many. Questions.

Just finished Charlie Donlea’s book DON’T BELIEVE IT, and I’m fascinated by the discourse surrounding its ending. To me, it’s a great sequel setup, but no direct sequel exists. Anyone know if the cases are referenced in either of the books featuring Gus or Cuddy?

Watching @judyblume.bsky.social's #Masterclass where she talks about wanting to make edits post-publication when recording an audiobook version (and not being allowed to) and oh my gosh so relatable. 🀣 It's never finished!

Damn. This is amazing. Β£325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Hawaii Supreme Court Expands Rights of Defendants, and Once Again Rebukes SCOTUS - Bolts Hawaii justices ruled that their state constitution requires police to record interrogations. And they vowed to protect due process for Hawaiiansβ€”unlike, they said, the Roberts Court.

NEW: Hawaii's Supreme Court keeps releasing opinions that denounce the U.S. Supreme Court.

The latest? A new ruling that requires the police to record all interrogations from now on.

The author took it as an opportunity to say Hawaii's court will protect due processβ€”while SCOTUS isn't:

Your authentic voice IS your competitive advantage in cover letters. Don't hide it behind templates or industry-speak. The goal isn't to tell your whole story in the opening - it's to make decision-makers want to keep reading.
