For my birthday this year, I asked friends and family for their favorite teas. And now, as I get ready to write each day, Iβm sharing one. Come have a tea with me and chat about writing.

As we watch our industry become a monopoly, supported by a kleptocracy, people are rightfully wondering what we can do to stop it.
One solution is something Iβve been working on for the past 8 years.
At first it felt hyperbolic to say weβre going to save Hollywood. But now Iβm starting to believe.
@janeespenson.bsky.social Thanks for the one long email chain comment on the Humanitas session today. It was a good reminder for me, and I immediately went and fixed an email that I was about to send. :-)

31.01.2026 18:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The cover of βBETH IS DEAD.β It is pink, with blood dripping from the bottom half of the word death. The authorβs name, βKatie Bernetβ is centered at the bottom.
How do we feel about modern adaptations? I just finished Katie Bernetβs BETH IS DEAD. Sheβs a brilliant writer, and I was sucked into the story. It also made me incredibly nostalgic for the original.
17.01.2026 18:12 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The cover for the novel βThe Grimoire of Grave Fates.β The tile is on a circle in the lower middle set within a depiction of a gargoyle. On the top is the phrase, βTwenty hours. Eighteen students. One murderer.β On the bottom is, βCreated by Hanna Alkaf and Margaret Owen.β
Who has read the collaborative novel THE GRIMOIRE OF GRAVE FATES? I need to know more. How did it come together? Did the editors have an outline & assign roles? Was there a writersβ room? Did the authors each come up with a character and it was worked out from there? So. Many. Questions.
