On Saturday, I headed back up to the North Norfolk Railway to enjoy their Fiftieth Finale Gala, a wrap up of their anniversary and main running season. Of course 70000 'Britannia' was running but Class 55 D9000 'Royal Scots Grey' joined in the action, and wow thats a beast!

Following the previous weekends Bluebell Railway GOS Gala. LNER A1 60163 'Tornado' was to head home today but not directly. Heading up the GEML it stopped off at Beaulieu Park station, that brand new one, for a few hours before resuming its journey. Seen here at Kennett and Soham this evening!

BR Standard 7MT 70000 'Britannia' is visiting the North Norfolk Railway this October Half Term for the Fiftieth Finale week long event to send off the 50th Anniversary at the railway.

Seen here today at various locations on the line. The Deltic is in operation next weekend!

A quick visit to the Fens were in order today. Heading to Shippea Hill station to see the DC Rail Freight Eccles Road Flow once again with their 60, 60055.

Very nice area and I will return here again in future!

745105 was stuck at Stansted Airport today (and yesterday I believe), so Norwich Depot sent 755411 to pick it up and drag it via Cambridge & Thetford back to Norwich. Long and slow drag but it made it!

Also seen is the usual Anglian RHTT circuit, first one seen this year at Harling Road.

Then Sunday rolled around, first up was a 200 mile drive home to Norfolk. But this weekend was the Mid-Norfolk Railway's last running weekend of the season and the HST Weekend using the new ROMIC Powercars.

Only saw the final service of the year but it was lovely to see!

What a weekend that was! First up, on Saturday I visited the Bluebell Railway Giants of Steam Gala to see the 4 new build steam locos all together for the first time ever.

A brilliant event that was and a first time in many years visit to the Bluebell Railway!

The quiet and peacefulness of Thetford Forest was awoken today with double freight, passing within 15 minutes of each other.

The new DC Rail flow to Eccles Road is going strong, I missed 56045 and 56103 last week sadly but 60055 took it today!

Also seen is 66610 on the FL Eccles Road flow too!

As its the weekend of Rail200, I wanted to go out to enjoy a day of steam action or whatever I could do in Norfolk today. So I chose the small but great Whitwell & Reepham Railway.

They are the only railway in Norfolk celebrating the festivities this weekend with their gala.

Today I adventured out to Harling Road once again.

The freight scene on the Breckland Line has become interesting last week with Class 70's to Norwich and 60's too.

Today, the first Class 70 was put onto the Eccles Road FL flow and today was the beginnings of a new DC Rail flow Eccles Road too!

I had nothing planned for the weekend, so I decided to go out and just watch a few services on the Mid-Norfolk Railway, as you do!

This weekend is the final weekend of steam this year on the railway so I thought I better pop out and see 80078 one last time this year. Oh and the Pacer too!

A nice little feast of action for only 20 minutes at Wymondham on the sleepy old Breckland Line.

Midland Pullman ECS move to Norwich in prep for Paignton trip tomorrow. FL 66 on a Dowlow stone service from Norwich. The new refurbished EMR Class 158 158847 and of course, a Flirt!

This morning was a treasure.

With the golden sunrise this morning and two Railtours passing within 20 minutes of each other. I had to go and see them both. Black 5 45212 on The Stratford Flyer and the Northern Belle on an ECS move. Passing Harling Road

Over the weekend it was the North Norfolk Railway’s 50th Anniversary Steam Gala. We stayed overnight at Kelling Heath so I got to enjoy two days of steam locos.

Newstead and Betton Grange being the stars of the show. Newstead’s first gala in preservation since being found! 🧵

It’s another Railtour to Norwich again!

After a little break of tours in and around Norfolk. Retro Railtours brought the 125 Preservation & 125 Group’s Powercars and Mk3’s to Norwich and Great Yarmouth on ‘The Retro Norfolk Broadman’. Seen here at Attleborough. Also a flirt too!

Now home, but this last week my family and I were on a holiday to Dorset and of course, one of the days, Thursday 7th, I got to choose what to do... so it was the Swanage Railway.

Never done it in real life, its a brilliant railway and would go back!

The Greatest Gathering!

Today I took the trek up north to Derby for the Greatest Gathering at Litchurch Lane.

12500+ people made it very busy and hard to get photos, but these were the best I could get.

Its been a year already since the last Steam Gala at the Mid-Norfolk Railway. This year there is more fun to have.

Home Loco 4MT Tank 80078 is being joined by SR U Class 31806, SR Light Pacific 34053 (as 34050) and Ivatt 2MT 41313.

41313 is a winner for me, I do love the Ivatt tanks alot!

With a few extra days in Yorkshire after the KWVR gala, I decided to watch some of the visiting locomotives leave the railway over the next few days.

I only managed to capture 37508 heading back to Derby and the RA 43’s taking 50021 and 47714 to Wensleydale and Chinnor.

I finally managed to get to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for the first time in over 15 years.

I wasn’t planning on going to the Diesel Gala but coming up to Yorkshire the same weekend, I couldn’t say no!

On my trip up t’north for a certain gala, 30 minutes were enjoyed at Peterborough whilst waiting my LNER service to Leeds.

A couple of GBRf Sheds, 66789 and 66714, and some Azuma’s added to the mix!

Just before I head off up north today for a certain gala taking place, I wanted to stay to see 1013 and 1001 pass my local station bound for Norwich!

I decided to head out of Norfolk for a change to go see a railtour using a loco that I really wanted to see on the mainline again.

Though today its hauling 'The Jolly Fisherman' tour to Skegness, this meant I had to travel to Spalding to see it, so I did!

Today was Day 1 of the North Norfolk Railway's Rails & Ales / Mixed Traction Gala. Visiting Loco's ranging from a Class 40, 66 and 69.

69010 was named after the railway to celebrate its 50th Anniversary this year with a ceremony this morning.

This weekend saw my attention focus on something a bit more smaller, like 15 inch gauge smaller!

The Bure Valley Railway is celebrating 35 years this year and to join the party, Romney loco's No.6 and No.9 joined the BVR's home fleet in an action packed weekend! (More photos below)

Last week resident steam locomotive to the Mid-Norfolk Railway, BR Standard 4MT Tank 80078 returned after 9 months away at the Spa Valley and at its owners depot in Essex. Great to see it back at the railway and sounding great!
