You’re the one not getting it. Most of America is not clamoring for democratic socialism. To pretend they are is to lose elections.

Doesn’t change the fact that middle America does not want democratic socialism taking over their politics. I don’t like it, but it’s the way it is. I’m all for raising taxes on the wealthy. I realize that conversation is full of minefields though and needs to be dealt with accordingly.

Oh, the nomenclature is twisted by republicans. It’s fear mongering, but it works. I feel like we need to acknowledge as much in our campaigns. When we give them easy wins it’s because we don’t understand how to frame things properly. The words democratic socialism are easily weaponized.

He’s generating excitement in New York. The biggest mistake democrats could make is to tell people in midwestern states that they have to do what is done in NYC. It would be an error of epic proportions. Every state and local has its own needs. Be smarter.

No I’m preparing democrats for the onslaught coming at them. He is not the future of the Democratic Party. He has a style that works for NYC. He gets points for that.

No I want the Democratic Party to be diverse and nimble on the national stage. I want leftists to recognize when their message drives voters away in the Midwest and rust belt.

Mamdani is catnip for republicans. While I like him, I have a handle on the baggage that he brings. I support him but feel we need to make it crystal clear that it’s NYC. What works in NYC doesn’t work in WI or PA.

No it’s not. Pull your head out of your ass. Do you want to lose in 2028? Unfettered socialism is toxic for large swaths of America. What works in NYC is not a model for the rest of the country when we are trying to remove a despot.

Republicans will capitalize on the “socialism” coming from an immigrant from overseas. We can support Mamdani without being naive about how his profile does not work in swing states. What unites us is our complete agreement that orange man needs to be stopped.

He is not the future of the Democratic Party. He’s a charming man who could be the future of NY politics…I do not agree with all of his positions and feel that playing fast and loose with “socialism” in swing states gets republicans elected. This distinction is very important.

All things considered, I do not believe Mamdani is the future of the Democratic Party. He’s got a nice style, but his form of politics could only ever happen in New York City. His positions and his background don’t work in WI, PA or any other swing state. These distinctions matter.
