Saying a piece of art "promotes or fetishizes sexual violence" is the exact rationale people used to harass me, a rape survivor, off of the internet and out of this field for years while calling me a "rape apologist." It will always be used as a cudgel against people making the "wrong" kind of art

Once on their vessel, he said he was aggressively put in handcuffs. “I never saw somebody so angry,” he said. He was then handed over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, who fingerprinted him, put him in a jail cell with his clothes soaking wet, and gave him a “dirty” blanket.

if they don't comply with mastercard's terms the entire site disappears. itch (and even valve) have basically no leverage against them. which means we have no leverage by boycotting them

yeah itch is the least worst actually, there's no barrier to entry, they take no revenue except donations, and from the jump they've been geared towards giving small creators an accessible place to host their work

personally i don't really think targeting itch is going to be useful. as far as platforms go it's about the least worst & the actual problem is so much bigger. i don't think there's much they could have done different here
