A better question is why there has been so little curiosity in the Westminster bubble about these former Labour members

They did… they voted for other parties in the GE. That’s why Starmer’s vote share was so low.

The thing is, there were thousands of Labour members and voters who watched the witch hunt, or were victims of it, who always understood the party had been captured. That alienation is why Starmer is unpopular with natural Labour supporters and why McSweeney felt he had to chase Reform voters.
