Sadly non-citizens from many places except certain Commonwealth countries and the Rep of Ireland, Malta and Cyprus are already barred from voting in general elections

‘Better Together’ in Scotland
‘Labour Together’ in London.
‘Together’ involves sleazy contempt for truth and democracy.
Labour and Tories are finished. Vote them to away in May!

This is a fantasy, just as the antisemitism witchhunt was. Most people forced out of Labour were simply too left for McSweeney’s taste, or asked hard questions he wasn’t able to answer. Labour showed it didn’t want to hear and now there’s a party that does

Keir Starmer’s response to the Gorton and Denton debacle should be a government that truly, finally, reflects him | Tom Baldwin In the past he has been urged to follow strategies that don’t really match his core beliefs. “Keir would not have been able to live with himself if he had been forced out of office early without showing the country who he really is and what he’s about”

Right, so we’ve all got to suffer because his ego is too fragile to accept he’s not good at this job?

This 'correction' from @lewisgoodall.com regarding accusations from Reform and the Conservatives that the Greens engaged in sectarianism, deserves to be widely read.

Anyone on the left who wasn’t actively involved from 2015-19 needs to know what’s coming.

1, they’re going to throw multiple, often contradictory lies at the wall to see what sticks. Polanski will be simultaneously weak and strong, timid and aggressive, passive and dictatorial, old fashioned and

It does, however, seem to be a clear signal that they don’t want Starmer…

Or the self own about not printing leaflets in community languages. Seems a pretty bad comms strategy if a significant proportion of your potential electorate reads fluently in a different language

Yikes. Gorton byelection!!
Britain Elects predicts:
Green 31%
Reform 30%
Labour 29%
A vote for Starmer would let Reform in!
All LD Lab voters need to vote Green this time!!

Kuenssberg is a gossip columnist masquerading as a political journalist. Her contact book is all she has and it’s full of Tories. She had no in with Corbyn’s Labour, and has made no headway with Starmer’s either

I’m drawing attention to the online commentators who are slagging off Badenoch for talking over Lewis but who do not, as you say, criticise Lewis for very similar behaviours.

Did I say otherwise? I’m just interested in the fact I don’t see the same pile on when men display the same unpleasant behaviours

I have an old side table of my dad’s. My grandad made it for mum and dad’s first flat. It’s nothing special and doesn’t fit our decor, but I can’t get rid of it. Dad died 14 years ago.

I once asked each of the students ata seminar if they had done the reading. All said no, so I packed up, saying “this is a waste of time then”. 10 minutes later they came to find me an apologised. All read after that and did well in their degrees

Let’s hope not. But I’m not prepared to put my scepticism aside just yet. The policy as being reported is going to need investment long before savings come through and I don’t see enough money in Reeves’ budget to cover it.

Your comment read to me as an attempt to diminish concerns about the SEND changes from people with lived experiences as ignorance caused by uninformed social media posts. Is that what you intended?

Because the system has been so awful for so long that traumatised parents and kids now find it impossible to trust any promises from the government. Not helped by this government’s proven attitude to disabled people and poor children

A better question is why there has been so little curiosity in the Westminster bubble about these former Labour members

20.02.2026 22:47 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

They did… they voted for other parties in the GE. That’s why Starmer’s vote share was so low.

The thing is, there were thousands of Labour members and voters who watched the witch hunt, or were victims of it, who always understood the party had been captured. That alienation is why Starmer is unpopular with natural Labour supporters and why McSweeney felt he had to chase Reform voters.

Reader Contribution: So you think the Tories are economically competent? Think again ... From Thatcher to Sunak: how the data compares to the reputation.

This week's Thursday Reader Contribution on Bearly Politics is brought to you @andygjburge.bsky.social.

In this post he does a robust comparison between Labour and the Tories when it comes to the management of the economy, and in it one of these two is found with their trousers badly down.
