Time for a read then! Just don't make me cry... I don't like crying at movies or scripts. I'm such an emotional light-weight.
01.03.2026 23:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A bigger set piece! That's exactly it. Like my "Psychologist" in the first scene who is now Mike Thompson, currently ticked off on page 32. I dragged him further into the story, which saved me inventing a new character and his being in the first scene is going to make so much more sense!

I really like this as those characters, as someone else said, often elevate the story as they have a transformative arc to live.
And now I need to know the line! What does she say?

Absurd premiseβ¦
No surprise to me!
I just listened to them discussing your script and the excellent feedback on both scripts in that round, I still have to say that yours has always been a favourite since you posted it and makes me chuckle every time I get to read it, well deserved!

Have your characters ever asked for more page time? Mine have. Reading through a draft or writing a scene, a character will literally ask, "What about me?"
Or have you ever late named a character because all of a sudden it dawned on you that they actually could solve a story problem?

The Danish Woman, TV miniseries cover image. Woman wearing a red helmet and bike goggles. Solving her neighbours' problems her way.
"The Danish Woman", TV Miniseries, a great European effort and very watchable.
"Ex-Danish spy Ditte retires to Iceland for a quiet life but can't ignore her warrior instincts, helping neighbours solve problems her way-whether they like it or not."

Outlining has it's place. I'd rather ask questions to solve the problems in the story and hopefully come up with something good and even unique or exploit a clichΓ©.
By the time "we", my characters and I have solved all the story problems, we're like this π€
Canβt wait!
25.02.2026 12:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good question! So many to pick from! How about one night, from dusk to dawn in Prague, where in the magical underbelly of a city with a rich history of absurdity, two lovers struggle not to fall in love with each other. A Milan Kunderaβesque vibe with garden gnomes and a large artwork of a Buddha. π§π½ββοΈ

βMovies Arenβt Too Long, They Just Donβt Know When to Endβ
I havenβt read the article but this is also my gripeβ¦ β
When I start thinking near the end βfinish already, die already, drown alreadyββ¦ I know the movie doesnβt know when to end. Example, Babylon, it ended for me when Nellie walked away.
Reading Shaun of the Dead script for the first time. How could I have missed this!?
Itβs so snap snap snappy.
Next Hot Fuzz and then Paul.

Thatβs dedication!
I often let it run in the background and rush to the TV to see my favourite scenes.
I also pick up the books at times and re-read the battle of Helms Deep and always cry when Gandalf shows up to save the day.
What a legacy that bandwagon has!
Itβs hard to find enthusiasm these days for movies that are not fast paced, donβt scare us to death or challenge us to investigate our mother/father relationships. Iβm not complaining but at times, I just want to sit and watch and have my feelings baby-sat
I just watch the trailer twice. I think I spotted the reveal is in the trailer.
There is something special about a 1980βs/90βs British movie, a being in the moment, lingering. It reminds me of Enchanted April which is a tad more cheerful of course.
Wow, theyβre so young! Wouldnβt have recognised Colin Firth!

Interesting - my grandfather bred Icelandic horses in Germany. I had the great pleasure of riding them.
Beautiful, beautiful horses.
I hope thatβs a good thing!
