11/2024 update: working on it but I'm still not sure I'm really here yet because I can only take so much social media checking and I'm lazy. Still easier to find me on Mastodon at the moment: @LhasaCM@thepit.social

Yes, I am aware of the current plan. For my suggestions: It would be nice to offset the inconvenience of the shuttle setup by taking advantage of the bus stop immediately adjacent to the large federal complex many of the riders are commuting to. Would go a long way to softening the blow πŸ˜€

Hey @wmata.com - it would be great if the Green line shuttles to Suitland stopped at bus stop 3004094 before progressing to the station. That's where a lot of the riders are headed, and it would shave off at least 5 of the 25-30+ minutes added by this month long closure.

Yeah - I always have to remind myself to slow down for the turn off of McDonald because of the likelihood (like this morning) of a few happy dogs out on walks in this lovely weather.

They also need a sign for delivery drivers/moving trucks to not park in the bike lanes there. Because, you know, signs solve everything.

This was a hypothetical example that was AI generated as part of a survey. It is not a serious or real proposal.

Basic A/B testing of perceived comfort or safety and willingness to bike

Also - how are people supposed to get there? Pretty wild that the bus detours mean that you can't really take the bus to/from the event without a lengthy walk (uphill from either way).

Makes complete sense to me. The "Our Team" part of the website currently is blank and where I'd seen a name before it's no longer there (which is why I'm not publicly saying it in case that's an actual change vs it's just growing pains in the marketing - I don't want to read anything into it).

At one point I thought I saw one familiar name attached to it I was glad to see, so hopefully "yes"?

I got something similar - was really hoping it was a customizable form letter I could click through and just refute their arguments point by point in urging a "no" vote.

AI generated "improvement" to North Capitol - a painted bike lane without protection. So the paint must be magical.

(the survey itself is interesting, if long...but gosh, these AI generated "designs" are terrible)

Sign me up for some magical green paint!

The thing is - that's what all of the teams do when it comes to funding "their" share of any stadium - besides naming rights they also ask fans to 'back' them in exchange for a personal seat license. Unless something has changed recently, that's exactly what the WFT is going to do here.

Quite a heavy downpour started on Ashburn just as my Metro train arrived. Good to know for the future that the platform for the front of the train (westbound) is uncovered...

Wouldn't say I'm passionate about it, but FWIW my mom's been pleased with the one we got for her new condo in November... www.grandappliance.com/product/frig...

My initial reaction when I read this was "it's not *that* bad"...and then the next day's commute I focused on how things were (as opposed to just going about my ride) and my gosh, it really is. I guess the incremental enshittification sometimes makes it hard to notice.

And as a reminder of what can be done when you're serious about safety - the recent story of two actresses getting 6-months UK driving bans for too many points on their licenses. The offenses that put them over the edge (and also resulted in a 1,000+ pound fine)? 38mph in a 30 and 46mph in a 40.

Alongside the bike trail, I think. But yeah, I would expect reopening Southeast Blvd under Barney Circle would be "strongly encouraged" as part of the site access plan...

But yes... for smaller events (like the Nats) the gridlock was horrible against a backdrop of fewer people in the area. And even compared to old NFL games, this promises to be worse. (Cars are much bigger these days too!)

The 20% was football to football - Old RFK was around 55k for football and the new plan is reported to be 65k.

Traffic was dreadful when the Nationals played there. And the new stadium will have 20% more seats. And DC has about 100k more people than when the NFL left.

Yes! Just look at all of the development around the team's current home in Maryland. We can have that here!

If you think electric bikes are bad, there’s a much bigger menace hitting our roads Electric bikes are a menace. They go almost as fast as a car (if the car is parking), they’re whisper...

People are saying... electrek.co/2025/07/20/i...

Besides the theoretical line on the MoveDC map? But yeah - it's weird. Then again, it is (I think) not dissimilar to what Alexandria is doing on Eisenhower Ave approaching Van Dorn (as developments are built they're adding sidepath/trail lengths that "someday" will be part of a greater whole).

I'm torn - putting in the trinket now makes it easier to add to a network later. If they used (and given the old entrance/driveway there more like kept) parking there, building anything in this block would be harder int he future.

My memory is a bit fuzzy on their opening there, but I think they were hoping to open on Ivy City but never fully operated there.

I do wonder how many different name plates they need for the same chicken and waffles before it goes from "maybe this name is more appealing" to "complete confusion"

Good gosh - it's one thing when news outlets from other areas make this mistake, but WJLA should damn well know that it's not "DC's Air and Space Museum" that's slated to lose the space shuttle due to the crappy new bill - unless DC extends out to within shouting distance of Loudon County...
