It’s weird how some people behave when they’re on two wheels. It’s as if they think being bigger and faster than people on legs gives them right of way.

They think it’s your own fault if you don’t jump out of their way when they ring the bell. Notice that she pinged the bell when she saw the woman rather than slowing and stopping. They all do it.

Yep, v. dangerous. I was hit by a cyclist running a red light at a pedestrian crossing. I fell and hit my head on the road. They fell off their bike but they (unlike me) were protected by a helmet. Even getting hit at slow speed is painful. I now really fear being hit by an electric scooter/bike.

Interestingly, Dumas (the father) was contemporary of another fascinating character, Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Maybe you’ve heard of Chevalier (the movie, 2022). The story just keeps evolving. Enjoy!!

The book is about the life and career of his father (a soldier and officer during the French Revolution) and it describes how he became the inspiration for Dumas’ novels, including The Count of Monte Cristo (1844) and The Three Musketeers (1844).

I absolutely loved this book. I was so inspired to learn about the author that I read ‘The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo’. It’s incredible, it’s about General Thomas-Alexandre Dumas (the father of Alexandre Dumas the author) written by Tom Reiss.

I’m not even from the US and it blew me away. To walk in the footsteps of some of those many European immigrants who literally built modern America provoked so many questions. I wondered how they decided who would be dispatched where. Fascinating. 🗽

The cover looks like it belongs to Brides magazine or Cheshire Life. No discredit to the individual but this is a flamboyant ready-to-wear looking dress photographed in a conventional, wedding album style. Pretty but in no way is this look pushing creative boundaries. 😴
