Her writing is evocative and rich, and I found myself sobbing as I read/listened (the audio version is excellent) because her description of the ghosts in the inn closely paralleled what EMDR Therapy felt like to me.

He’s pretty scared of thunder and I thought he’d be up here already, since he spent the evening with me in the basement and has been following me around, which isn’t usually his thing.

Stop Subsidizing Rural America It’s time for Democrats to move on from trying to save “real America” from itself.

It's not "rural America" being subsidized, but rather it's urban America's food (and tourist destinations like national parks). Whether or not farm subsidies are overly generous is a fair question, but stop deriding rural America in the process of that discussion.

He’s the best. I’m just baffled that he’s so aloof toward the rest of the family.

He just ignores all not-me known quantities.

He’ll come out and greet visitors to the point that he’s a PTA, since the dog is usually put up, but once they aren’t new any more, they cease to exist 😹😹😹

In this season of life, cooking is more of a chore than a pleasure, and I have other chores I feel more urgency toward out in the garden.

So I do it all at once.

I adore all animals. But there’s something really flattering about a cat who likes you, and only you.

I am, it seems, Rick’s Person. He’s the orangest cat on the planet, and he’ll occasionally come out to meet visitors. He’s super friendly and only bites in play.

But he only has eyes for me.

It was the worst of times, it was the fucking worst of times.
