Early Spokanites and other 19th century Americans were not always fastidious about the dead. Several Spokane cemeteries were moved, either side of 1900. Contractors were supposed to exhume the remains but who's going to notice if you just turn over a couple of spades of dirt and move the headstones?

Update: Some kind of graveyard, not necessarily Chinese. Documentation is sparse. Apparently the developer did hire a qualified archeologist, who found nothing. I STILL think someone should monitor the excavation!

I believe Chett Caskey's book about Spokane cemeteries has the details. I don't know that it has ever been confirmed with archeology. But someone should definitely be watching the backhoes when they break around here.

It depends on where you land (if you find a permanent position at all!). The vast majority of professor jobs are teaching jobs w/ minimal research. Turn that diss into a book and you're done for life. Maybe a couple of conference paper and book reviews. HOWEVER! Do you love teaching?
