A low close view of a clump of small white bell-shaped flowers, each hanging down from a dedicated stalk, rising above dark green grass-shaped leaves. The flowers are growing between the grass in front of large historic buildings hinted at in soft focus behind. The distinctive shapes of a church spire and grand bare trees dominate the soft focus.

Thank you for sharing. The detail required during procurement due diligence is key here "the following [third] countries in the sub-processor chain should have been the subject of an investigation before the municipalities entered into the contract with Google:" [translated from Danish]

In 2024, the Danish DPA sought the EDPB's opinion on Article 28 GDPR. The EDPB clarified that controllers must keep current records of all processors and sub-processors. The Danish DPA just published its decision on the use of Google's products in primary schools. www.datatilsynet.dk/afgoerelser/...

Finally had a chance to write up the CJEU's Russmedia ruling which appears to make it literally *impossible* to run a website in the EU that allows any user content. I just don't see how compliance is possible. At all. Hat tip to @daphnek.bsky.social for calling it to my attention.

This is a great reminder that accuracy is not only relevant when the right to obtain correction of inaccurate data is exercised, but it is a general principle which must be baked into a product that processes personal data from the outset and proactively. OOOOAAAA

#Russmedia is the gift that keeps on giving. First time the Court states this re: accuracy:
"every reasonable step must be taken to ensure that personal data that are inaccurate, having regard to the purposes for which they are processed, are erased or rectified without delay."

Hold your horses 🐴 The CJEU itself clarifies that having to comply as an online platform with the #GDPR to prevent unlawful processing of sensitive data *is not* an obligation of general monitoring.
It’s right there in the judgment, spelled out, at para 132.

Our News at 10 segment on the nursery hacks here. One of the most shocking parts of this nasty little hack is that the criminals have hired people to call up some of the parents to say 'your kids data is going on the dark web unless you tell Kidos to pay us'.

Hackers Hijacked Google’s Gemini AI With a Poisoned Calendar Invite to Take Over a Smart Home For likely the first time ever, security researchers have shown how AI can be hacked to create real world havoc, allowing them to turn off lights, open smart shutters, and more.

The apartment lights go out. The smart shutters start to roll up. An internet-connected boiler is remotely turned on.

But the residents didn’t trigger any of these actions. It’s a demonstration of how AI can be hacked to create real-world havoc.

Today is the 47th anniversary of this clearly unimprovable photo, from a story so absurd that it shouldn’t be true, but is: the day a team of workers from British Waterways pulled the plug out of the Chesterfield Canal, and all the water emptied out
