Mark your calendars for August 21-23 for the #PitchDis practice run! The pitch form will be open those 3 days for you to practice submitting during the event.
Remember - this is just for practice. Only pitches submitted September 9-11 will be posted for agents and editors.

I’ve had an influx of vanity publishers register for #PitchDis this year. I try to vet everyone, which is how I realized who they were. But I urge you to please research anyone you submit to. Do your due diligence. (6/7)

If you DO want to work with a vanity publisher for any reason, you don’t need our event. A quick google search will find you many of them. We want to ensure participants are getting requests from traditional agents and editors who aren’t pay for play. (5/7)

As I’ve always said, never work with anyone who charges fees to publish your book. Money should be coming to you, not the other way around.
Also, be wary of agents who charge for editing. You don’t need to pay someone to edit your book in order to get an agent/deal. (4/7)

They usually offer a “free review!” and will give you a glowing evaluation. But from there, the costs add up. And they have no reason to help with marketing your book because they’ve already made enough money charging you fees for publication. (3/7)

Vanity/hybrid publishers require YOU to pay them to publish your book. They basically print it for you, and you’re responsible for the costs. (2/7)
