Storyboard Art of Peridot by Rebecca Sugar. I think this is a great example of how much life she can give very quickly to a character's expression. Peridot in general is great for emoting since she wears her heart on her sleeve and uses her limbs to emote a lot.

Sketch of Lapis. In general I think Rebecca Sugar really emphasises gesture in this way which gives so much life to characters.

Rebecca Sugar Self Portrait. I think that the use of fashion does a lot to emphasise these drawings.

Marceline from Adventure Time by Rebecca Sugar. Again, great gesture and generally I think Sugar is great at finding beauty in whatever character she's drawing. Like here you can see how much Marcy's flowing hair helps to emphasise her gestures.

She's got this focus on character expression/gesture + themes of childhood whimsy + complex relationships I really vibe with.
