No, I have neither. I’m a lawyer reading the plain text of the laws and drawing a reasonable inference. If there are more rules beyond what you’ve shared, I’d love to take a look at them.

It says NSA is prohibited from asking. It doesn’t say prohibited from receiving. And since it only mentions NSA, that doesn’t preclude any other intelligence orgs or even the president himself making such a request.

Probably worth pointing out that UKUSA would most likely allow the US government to access data about its own citizens that it would not otherwise be able to obtain without a court order. This would circumvent all Fourth Amendment protections and its global equivalents - without cause.

They are a great way to transfer more wealth to the rich. Folks are already cashing out billions in holdings they can redeploy to hoover up additional assets at rock bottom prices. And for the Nazi Party, they can use the economic pain to create more scapegoats and justify further austerity.

It seems clear that a major shift is occurring. And it is occurring in the midst of a growing acknowledgment that our way of life is unsustainable. But having academically studied antiquity, I’d say “collapse” is too strong. It is usually a slow, gradual giving way to something different.
