A meteor streaks diagonally on the top right side of the frame, with a couple pulses of brighter light. The meteor is above a red/yellow/green aurora borealis. The scene is moonlit and chamisa and cottonwood trees are visible in the foreground, along with a house. The Rocky Mountains are in the background. The sky is full of stars.

This is the nicest shot of the night, via two different cameras that captured the same meteor.

Seasons in Juja, KE

This place can get really green 🌱🌿 and also really dusty πŸͺ🏜️. Surprisingly, these two images were taken just one month apart β€” one in March and the other in April 2025.

This is why an eclipse can’t happen right now: the Moon and the Sun are passing 41Β° away from each other in the sky. For an eclipse to occur, they must pass along the same path.

Socrates was against students taking down notes because he believed it would undermine their memoryβ€”but it is ironic that we wouldn’t remember he said that, 2,500 years later, if Plato hadn’t written it down πŸ˜‚.

I believe this is solid proof that the Moon’s position in its orbit is what directly influences our tides. πŸŒ•πŸŒŠ

Happy Halloween πŸŽƒπŸ‘»

This year's Halloween fell 5 Days short of a full moon πŸŒ•. A full moon on Halloween night is a very rare event and occurs once every 18 years. The last time it occurred was in 2020, and the next time it will occur will be in 2039.

Genesis 1:16:
So God made the two larger lights, the sun to rule over the day and the moon to rule over the night;

The probability of the sun and moon being the same size in the sky of a planet with intelligent beings in the universe is extremely small.

Maths teaches you the skill of organization.

Just as this formula has been rearranged to make it easier to solve, you should also organize things in your life to make them easier to solve when you can't see the way forward. πŸ“

There are 49 different species of mosquitoes in the world, and only the Anopheles mosquito transmits malaria.

I don’t know which one is Anopheles here, but I know the one with stripes on its legs bites very painfully πŸ˜‚.

The compound eyes are highly specialized for detecting movement and light, including infrared and polarized light, and have an almost 360Β° field of vision.

When a mosquito is hunting for a target, it uses its infrared vision to locate warm-blooded hosts, even in the dark.

Two large compound eyes dominate the mosquito’s head, each made up of hundreds to thousands of tiny cells, with each cell functioning like a miniature eye with:
β€’ a lens to focus light,
β€’ a photoreceptor cell to detect light,
β€’ pigment cells that prevent light from scattering between the units.

We’re seeing the Earth’s shadow in this image.

It's a fascinating atmospheric phenomenon that occurs at the boundary between golden hour and civil twilight, when the Sun has just dipped below the horizon and direct sunlight no longer reaches the ground, but the upper atmosphere remains illuminated.

Do you see the tides are in phase with the position of the moon in the sky? It's high tide when the moon is at its highest point in the sky and low tide when the moon is about to rise or set.

The second high tide occurs due to the centrifugal force of the Earth-Moon system rotating.

Very interesting observation: my shadow is to my right when I’m in Kitale (latitude 1Β°N) and to my left when I’m in Juja (latitude 1Β°S). Both pictures were taken within 5 minutes of true midday, and I was facing south in both pictures.

We are now one week away from the equinox.

As someone who believes in learning beyond the classroom, I completely condemn teachers who only want students to read books to pass exams.

So those girls were denied a chance to see the total lunar eclipse just because it happened during preps time. πŸ˜•
