I'm Co-Chair of Halifax Cycling Coalition, working hard to make cycling in Halifax safer, more convenient and more joyful. In this role, I focus first and foremost on the 60% of the population who would cycle more if it felt safe.
Who knows. They could even halt Brunswick. And there are lots of plans in the works for recapitalization of major streets that would have included cycling infrastructure.

Here is the text from the govt. response:
"Pause potential active transportation projects that could impact the capacity of key routes and intersections and explore options to βfuture proofβ pathways to allow for safe pedestrian and cycling commuting, separate from high volume commuter corridors."
βThe government also plans to pause projects such as bike lanes in Halifax that have the potential to affect the capacity of key road routes and intersections, although Tilley couldn't say whether ongoing bike lane projects would be subject to the move.β

if your municipal council needs to wait until there's a change of provincial government to make decisions for your region, you don't have a municipal council.

Are you a cyclist?
No, sorry, your acoustic bike is a much bigger fire risk than a gas-powered car.

We need a designation of an AT Arterial which will be immune to such closures.
Just as we donβt shut down roads even though motorized vehicles present a greater risk with very hot catalytic converters and combustible fuels.

Halifax council makes βstrategic retreatβ on Morris Street bike lane project
By @suzannerent.bsky.social
Here is my story on #Halifax regional council's vote to rescind its decision on the Morris Street bike lane project.
But also how does this decision connect to the ban on going into the woods? It's all about climate change
www.halifaxexaminer.ca/government/c...
This is about democracy. All available evidence suggests that Halifax residents want safe cycling infrastructure. We have affirmed this over and over in public consultation, in the annual Resident Survey, and in the continuing election of outspoken, pro-bike lane councillors.

Hartling: says the CAOβs advice has shifted her position. She felt very uncomfortable rescinding the motion. She encourages everyone to refer to the Halifax Cycling Coalition surveys and see what council members ran on. She supported the IMP.
This is great. Thank you. So a strong majority support building more bicycle infrastructure generally. So when Andy Fillmore says people don't support it, he is simply making shit up.
