This is the “gender-critical” transphobes giving up on their bio-determinism & saying it is gender (ie. The socially & culturally determined performative) that defines a woman.

Apart from anything else, this is such a wholehearted capitulation to patriarchy, it should make any real feminist despair.

Being female is to be marked as a permanent at-risk class, requiring state protection against even the appearance of maleness.

Rather than, y'know, against real violence.

Trans-exclusionary and “gender critical” takes are extremely prevalent in the British media. So I wrote this with the assumption that many readers might not realise that such views are seen as fringe and extreme by the vast majority of feminists outside the UK (and by many within the UK too).
