rewriting code for this game which is also causing me to rethink everything. This style of bullet time can be fun but it's not super interesting. It's basically a glorified aim assist. Time control where the player is unaffected might be more fun. Maybe something to do with recording actions...

Having an "expressive" player character is sliiiightly overrated. That's not to say it isn't cool, it is, but if anything I'd rather see 3D platformers with more dynamic environments/NPCs. Ape Escape and Rain World are good examples of this.

Dying Light 2 also has this energy. I think playing Eternal and Turbo Overkill have radicalized me against having any sort of rpg upgrade system in action games.

my problem is that I can't separate this moment from the marketing. the Promise being made here, imo, is that the Castle will not only look beautiful from a distance but it will also contain a Engaging Experience. So that's how I log it in my head. I'm becoming too skeptical of Beautiful Vistas lol
