Maybe we could adjust content moderation standards depending on how big the platform is? Like bigger platforms have more resources and influence, so they should be held to a higher standard compared to smaller platforms, especially around algorithmically amplified content. (1/?)

They could establish things like advisory boards focused on ethical AI. These groups can create clear ethical guidelines and enforce them through legislation.

What makes a crisis response "effective"? Can you think of a time when a company handled a crisis *poorly*, and if so, can you explain why it didn't go over so well?

I think the shift has been pretty dramatic. Social media has completely changed how ads reach us not just in speed, but also precision. With algorithms tracking our behavior, ads are now hyper-targeted in our feeds. It's getting harder to distinguish between content andβ€” (1/?)

Personally, I prefer advocacy reporting. Traditional objective reporting may get the basic facts without bias, but advocacy reporting highlights stories and injustices that would otherwise be overlooked. I prefer the transparency in knowing where someone's perspective lies.

Imagine you're running an MLM company struggling to reach younger audiences. Based on the reading "6 effective PR strategies for multi-level marketing companies" by Walter Bodell, what PR strategies would you implement?

I think it also creates a feedback loop: the more disconnected people feel from those in power, the more they turn to communities that validate their doubts or suspicions, even if those spaces are misinformation central. The more they turn to these spaces, the more disconnectedβ€” (1/?)

I think the size of the group matters depending on the platformβ€”on X (cough, Twitter), for example, a few loud voices can feel like a majority. So even small groups can trigger the spiral if they're visible and vocal enough.

The reading "Americans are fighting coronavirus misinformation on social media" discussed the risks associated with correcting misinformation on social media. Do you think these risks outweigh the benefits?

I try to engage with most sources, but I will admit there are some media outlets that I do not touch at all. For example, I automatically do not trust more conservative outlets, mostly because I find the way they write about certain topics is not good for my mental health lol

How does the concept of the hostile media effect influence the way people interpret news coverage of current events, and what strategies should journalists use to mitigate its impact?

I think we are shaping the message by engaging with content that aligns with our values. Algorithms amplify the most engaging content, which reinforces certain messages while filtering out others. Brands craft the message, the audience determines its reach/impact. #uwj201 #301
