This recipe is always good; sometimes I only make the sauce and have it with pasta and a scoop of ricotta, sometimes I have it on toast. www.thekitchn.com/cheese-stuff... seems like it would freeze well but I haven’t tried yet.

A brownish blackish tabby cat with green eyes and a peachy nose looks at the camera with a content look. She knows she’s cooler than me.

I left KEXP on all day for the cat while I was at work and now she’s like A LOT cooler than me?!

Just to add to this: the notion of "peaking" is a veiled form of comparison/success culture and it is a POISON. What others think of your work is none of your business; what YOU think of your work is none of your business also! Just make the things that give you joy!

I've seen discourse surrounding artists "peaking" at 30 and I just want to say don't fall for that trap!
I'll be 45 this year and I don't think I've ever been more resolute about my work.
Existence and perseverance is art; you can not PEAK yourself. Every iota of creation you make is a miracle.β˜„οΈ

The Unstoppable Alysa Liu Watching a young woman be free was the joy I didn’t know I needed

I don't follow figure skating, so I couldn't figure out why I started sobbing while watching Alysa Liu's gold medal-winning performance.

Then it dawned on me: I was watching a young woman be free.

Ideally, the people using their talent, time, and energy to make outstanding creative work and the people relentlessly promoting and marketing that work wouldn’t be the same people.

It’s midnight and I’m in bed listening to two owls hooting back and forth at one another. PS I’m in OAKLAND.

Pencil sketch of a cow face surrounded by flowers and clover on wash-away interfacing on top of a gingery brown sweater. Some of the white (cow face) and green (clover) areas have been filled in with wool.

After I finished my first needle felted sweater project I had a great idea for a new one, featuring COW

Every time I see a photo of Beffrey Jepstein I think about how leathery he looks, like a smelly old sandal that’s been left on the shore of a brackish body of water too longβ€”discarded, forgotten, and probably full of fleas

I was informed that a young relative is getting into zines (!!) so to start the week I made them a little care package full of zines and stickers.

I can say that I have zero interest in the Brad Pitt vehicle (see what I did there) or the ping pong one, so I definitely won’t watch them all.

Somehow I have already seen four of the best picture nominees (Bugonia was tonight) which is unusual for me, but then again, it’s kind of a weird list this yearβ€”like three horror adjacent movies?

'Why aren't they in the streets' is answered almost every day in my small town by people in the streets! Rather than asking 'why aren't they in the streets' it's worth asking 'why isn't your media showing them in the streets' and 'who is served by downplaying resistane in its myriad forms.'

Living Colour: Tiny Desk Concert Did we really squeeze the big sound of Living Colour behind the Tiny Desk? Yes, we did. And, yet, the band lost none of its intensity.

I only found out about this yesterday and it is SO GOOD, one of the bands that got me into cool music (and typography!) when I was but a youth: www.npr.org/2025/06/25/g...

What was a good thing from your day? My hair is the same color as my coworker’s dog, so I gave him an emo hair wig with my ponytail.

This AND all the people who had to go to the hospital for regular reasons (other illness, treatments, birth) and have a strange, isolated, *probably not super therepeutic* experience with limited staff & resources and no visitors. How could you not know someone.

Someday I need to do a tour of fabrics that remind me of people, because I am looking at a flannel right now that reminds me of someone named Jessica (last name ??) who was in my class in 1st grade.
