the thing is durandal does give you dry jokes and he does tell you what to do, he’s still doing that in the terminals it just gets across his character in such a more interesting way because of the writing

and all this comes through in some really surprisingly well written short fiction that i just think would lose something in any modern game where he’d be going shodan mode in your ear, making wry jokes and constantly giving you new objectives
