@moira Hopefully they get enough messages over the next couple days that they turn from yes to no soon.
I am noticing that we can only replace 2 of the traitorous 8 next year, so it's going to be a long game.

@moira Oh joy! Gonna pay attention to these fucks and make sure I donate to their primary challengers.
At least neither of my senators are voting for this shit. Gonna send them a note thanking them.
@younata I've heard that sometimes the downside of airparks is they are run like HOA's ... and all the politics associated. That said, one time when we were shopping for a house I looked hard at an airpark. The only problem was the cost of the cheapest place was like 2x our limit, and I don't […]
10.11.2025 01:06 — 👍 0 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Did some airport hopping today, and visited an airpark for the first time! Independence, OR. Seeing all those houses with massive garages specifically meant to hold aircraft was pretty cool.
Do I want to live at an airpark? No. I’m a city girl, and I want city amenities. Like not having to […]

@slothrop “train route” might also be a good idea for the same thing, because trains can reroute in some circumstances, though “train route” can imply a degree of on-rails/lack of fluidity that I’m looking for.
A “shipping line” might also be a good alternative, as that’s literally […]

So, I did this, and I continue to be amazed that no one has called me on my bullshit. And in fact I’ve even gotten support for the idea.
One difference between this time and last time (https://hachyderm.io/@younata/114943498653133751) was that, now that openai has papers admitting that the tech cannot be trusted, I'm much more ok with directly stating "the tech can't even do what we want it to do".
Plus, in general, I'm trying […]
I'm doing a really bad job of not making being anti-llm my entire personality.
At a leadership q&a last week for my COE (so... nobody there was higher than my skip-skip level manager), I asked a question that boiled down to "there are a ton of really bad externalities here, why are we pursuing […]
Angela Collier (@acollierastro, but she's much more active on blue sky: https://bsky.app/profile/acollierastro.bsky.social) put out a video today about Faust and the book Mephisto. Most of the content is about the more famous Faust stories, before switching to Mephisto, which is about how the […]

And while I’m still not hitting my target point, I am getting much smoother: I had my first greased landing today in my plane!

Did some quick searching in my area, found a list of food banks/pantries/etc. in my area, and made a one-time donation to each of them. I had a set amount I was intending to give, and I split it evenly amongst the ones I found. I even covered all the processing fees, so I gave a little more than […]

Police would pull him (of course it’s a him) over (somehow?), impound the car, and the rich fuck would […]
Hey #lazyweb, what’s the least problematic browser that’s actually usable right now?
Safari is my preferred browser, but it’s having issues with my corporate SSO (probably some cross-site/third party cookie issue?), and I’m extremely frustrated at having to re-auth for nearly every single […]
@unlambda and it was reading this that caused me to go read your bio and realize you know much more about the current state of electric aviation than I do. Apologies!
Interesting! Thanks for this, I haven’t been following beta closely at all. I didn’t realize you had demonstrated such a long […]
@younata We've already done a 2 hour 30 minute flight for 336 nautical miles back in 2022 (unfortunately, none of the flight trackers I know of allow viewing historical data that far back without paying; but if you're able to find it, look up N250UT on December 29, 2022).
Now, that was an […]
@younata Yeah, it's a really good reason to be working on electric aircraft.
Also, get rid of the lead. It's amazing to me that we still don't have any widespread unleaded avgas. Making progress on it, but also making progress on electric aviation.
Now to be fair, it's only piston engines that […]
@younata Pipistrel trainers are really selling. Need more range to do much more than training, but they're still doing pretty well for that.
And there are a lot more airports with electric chargers by now than there are with G100UL.
* Electric chargers: https://skyzero.io/
* G100UL […]
@unlambda The pipistrel trainers are great. Diamond also has the eDA40 coming out at some point.
These all are really limited by current battery tech. You can’t really get more than 90 minutes total endurance with lithium-ion cells. This applies even to the larger aircraft - Eviation now claims […]
@unlambda I legitimately think we’ll have widespread electric aircraft before we have 100UL widely available.
27.10.2025 01:33 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0You know, for an aviation enthusiast, I despise the smell of all aviation fuel. Burnt or unburnt.
I would joke that this is why I’m building an electric plane, but that’s definitely one of the perks. Not having to shower after each and every time I fly would be great.
(I’m waiting to deplane […]

Writing a proposal to update work's change-proposal process, and I'm strongly tempted to call the equivalent of a "roadmap" a "flight plan". For 2 reasons: to avoid reusing this same boring terminology, and to remove some car-centrist thinking.
After Swift Testing added support for image attachments on apple platforms and windows platforms (insert 90s-era M$ insult here), they had realized they really should consolidate the different AttachableAs${PLATFORM_SPECIFIC_IMAGE_TYPE} protocols down into just a single AttachableAsImage […]
23.10.2025 02:26 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Had a dream last night where I was back working at the same company I worked at back in 2015.
That’s how hard I drank the kool-aid there. I left that company in 2017.
Uniqlo saved me from giving money to them by requiring me to create an account in order to check out. What an own-goal.
Oh well, saved me from spending money on fast-fashion. I’ll see if one of the local shops downtown has something close to what I’m looking for. It’ll probably last longer, too.
Following up: The options are basically FreeCAD, OpenSCAD, and blender with a cad plugin.
OpenSCAD hasn't seen a new release since 2021, which is kind of sad. I've previously used it (before learning fusion), and while it's incredibly powerful, I switched away because I wanted the more […]
Hi lazyweb. I'm feeling thoroughly annoyed at Autodesk fusion. Any recommendations for free & open source 3d cad systems I can go learn? Desktop apps only, nothing web-based. I know blender is a thing, but it's a 3d modeling system, and I'm looking for much more of a cad app.
11.10.2025 01:14 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0@ai6yr Arrived today! Pretty cool to set this up & have a dedicated ads-b receiver. The antenna is sitting indoors on a (south-facing) windowsill, and I'm picking up aircraft that are quite far away, even from those that are fairly far north where I should have some pretty poor reception.
10.10.2025 21:54 — 👍 0 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0@ai6yr liveatc.net, search for BUR. You’ll want the “tower” feed, as that frequency is likely the one used as CTAF when tower is closed.
Interestingly, there’s a unicom frequency (122.95 MHz) for BUR which is not the same as tower or ground.
