Realized this morning that my submission got selected for Yale's Beauty in Science 2025 exhibition! Seeing the live-assembly of filopodia projections by formin mDia3 in mast cells got me really stoked back then! #FluorescenceFriday

🧡5/6 β€” The Big Picture
EndoNB works on endogenous proteins. No rare antibodies. No overexpression.
It’s scalable and ready to explore the 1000+ surface proteins we’ve barely studied.
We’re done understanding vesicular trafficking by looking at a handful of model surface proteins.

We show that under low ahesion conditions Tensin 1 forms endogenous condensates to store inactive adhesion components. These can be released upon stress-mediated Tensin 1 phosphorylation to regulate adhesion dynamics.

Unlike eggs & mitotic cells, in adherent interphasic cells the centrosome is NOT positioned by a balance of forces along #microtubules, but by cell shape organization around the #centrosome: rupress.org/jcb/article/...

Look at these distinct clusters exhibited by N-WASP and Arp2/3 ! Is branched #actin polymerization the sole driving force for nucleating cortical actin waves? Cross-talks within the actin network can be messy, so how can we study such complexities? #CellBio2024 @ascbiology.bsky.social

Mix two motors of opposite polarity with microtubules and they will partition space !
Microtubules will get organized in polar and active barriers, sorting the two motors in separated domains, leading to the emergence of a new type of patterns.

A still from a cine film down a microscope showing dark patches in two cells that are recognisable to a cell biologist nowadays as focal adhesions. The view is through the eyepieces i.e. circular, as though we are spying on the cells.

Who needs immunofluorescence?

Focal adhesions (or cell feet as they were known then) were first observed in this 1975 paper by Abercombie and Dunn
