Those coffee machines with a giant silo of beans that grind each individual cup sound great in theory but I have never had an even halfway decent coffee out of one because the beans have generally been sitting in there since the Obama era. Is this just me? Hate the places with these things.

And look at who those two guys were played by! One of the biggest Korean movie stars of the modern age and the guy who would eventually become even bigger than just a Korean actor because he’d star in Squid Games twenty years later!

The tv thing wasn’t that special either, lest you worry I made a bad decision. Was an early version of the now so common as to be a cliche genre of “foreigners who speak Korean tasting Korean food and mogging for the camera” so it’s not like I missed out on any award winning stuff there.

So it is with joyful pettiness when I tell people this story and point out that the resulting film was one of the biggest box office bombs in South Korean history. SHOULDN’T A FUCKED WIT ME! Anyway both my own and the industry circumstances changed soon afterward and I never did any of that again.

At one point during my time in South Korea I had both a role on a tv series and a role in a movie lined up. Of course these occurred simultaneously so I had to pick one. Went with the movie role (speaking part in a big summer blockbuster) then the director changed the part & cut me out.

The reunions must be amazing!

One was a railroad executive and the other was a real estate lawyer. “Ah, he comes from money” you say. Sadly no, because they were both super Catholic and had about 22 kids between them, all going to parochial schools.
