It's a concept that drops all of us to the lowest common denominator

For every game or art enthusiast with something interesting and thoughtful to say, 500 eleven year olds, guys who played while sitting on the toilet with the game muted etc, leave ratings

Those ratings choose what art we get!

And furthermore it's a partial explanation of why I get frustrated with public review of games and art

Imo it's doing more harm than good to allow anyone to rate games and use it as the main visible metric on steam to say whether something is worth it, for these exact reasons
