None of these are hard fast rules. Just patterns that I’ve noticed in posture and body shape over years of enjoying and really appreciating the bodies of fat men on the internet for decades. When you notice the subtleties of performance - you begin to see the way those subtleties affect shape.

07.02.2026 17:27 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

You start to see patterns. People with big fatpads tend to sit with their legs at wider angles and leaned slightly back. People with larger overhangs tend to lean forward a lot both when they sit and stand. People with wider hips tend to push their legs closer together when they stand.

So it’s impossible to fully control it. Especially as you gain weight, fat is heavy and pulls on your body because of gravity and skin and other types of connective tissue can only do so much for holding fat in place. But when you observe posture in different people and the ways their fat settles

It is a theory. I don’t have a lot of evidence for it, but thanks to the amount of information available about how people interact with their own bodies that exists on social media, you start to see trends that give evidence to parts of it. I think that genetics play a huge role in body shape

Their shape aligning with their understanding of their gender and so the performance of it requires less growth and more shaping. It’s also why some go to extremes while others stop after just a few pounds. We are always trying to align and perform what we see in the mirror to what we feel inside

07.02.2026 17:11 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

And I think this is why gainers often feel more at home in their genders as they gain. They are performing the way they see their gender as they gain weight. And so aspects of their gender only manifest as they gain. It’s also why many gainers likely stop or slow down their gaining.

And mine is no less or no more masculine than his. They are just different and the ways that we feel our gender best is performed in society. gender is how you choose to perform it not how you choose to see it. If you want what you see to match what you feel, then you must find a way to perform it.

07.02.2026 17:05 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

His performance of masculine and mine are different. They are different gender performances. They represent different ideas of masculine - but more specifically they represent the ways our two ideas of masculine feel like they should be performed by us. His is no less or no more masculine than mine

07.02.2026 17:05 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

For this idea to work, it requires an understanding that gender is very very far from binary. Gender is a performance. It’s a role. And your perception of that role influences how you perform that role. My gender is masculine but my performance of that is very different from say bullthor

07.02.2026 17:05 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If there’s a mismatch between your body shape and gender identity (beyond genitalia and genetic aspects that you can’t perform, but are physical manifestations of your genetics) then your performance of your gender doesn’t match your perception of that gender.

But

But it means that if you take actions that perform gender the way that YOU see your own gender and how you think your own gender should be performed, your body will take the shape that aligns with your gender identity.

Our bodies are complex chemistry reactions in a hyper complex chem lab. The things we expose ourselves to, the muscles we use the most, the way we hold our bodies and pose our bodies, all affect that chemistry and so the way fat distributes, muscles grow, and bones shape are all dependent on use

07.02.2026 16:51 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Strongly masculine gender expression changes how you interact with your body and society and so its shape will reflect that. Strongly feminine expression will change how you hold and pose your body and will have a similar feminizing effect on your body shape.

07.02.2026 16:49 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

But body shape IS a part of gender expression. The way you move through the world is a reflection of the gender you perform for society. Gender apathy tends to result in softer and more ambiguous gender expression

07.02.2026 16:48 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If you’re more sedentary your fat will distribute along with gravity. If you move more it will be more distributed over your frame. If you jiggle your belly a lot it will be softer and more jiggly. If you suck in or compress your belly it will be tighter and more compact and firm.

I’ve been sitting on a theory that your body shape is representative of the way you interact with the world. The way your fat sits on your body, the way your skin looks, your hair style. All of these change with the way you interact with the world

Sometimes that work means losing weight - sometimes it means gaining weight - sometimes it means working out and changing how you carry your weight - sometimes that means changing what you eat so that your weight doesn't cause health problems, but only you can decide how best to live in your body.

23.01.2026 18:42 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Been seeing more and more people enjoying their bigness lately - not only here but other places online and it's very comforting to see! Keep loving yourselves, no matter your size. You only have one body so appreciate it and work to make it the most comfortable and enjoyable experience you can.
