UK politics has left the gutter of casual racism and prejudice and has now descended into the sewers of outright fascist hatred.

ICYMI from yesterday: more evidence that the UK news media is a racism factory, deliberately training the public to be more bigoted. This is the intended outcome of editorial policy at the behest of media owners and operators for political ends.

I'm thinking of a Neville Chamberlain metaphor, only with *two* Hitlers.

One of the most striking changes I’ve noticed in the UK is the rise of racism and hate towards various groups. I see it online everyday. Words, views and threats used that 10 years ago would have been unthinkable.
More concerning is that I see little political action to stem this poisonous flow.

I would say, on the Eastern Front, the Battle of Kursk was the pivotal moment, after which the Nazis were constantly on the retreat. On the Western Front, only really when the Allies had actually entered Germany in the Autumn and Winter of 1944.

The trouble is, even from the first days of the empire, Britain has been a racist country, and partly still is. Too many Brits seem to like being poorly educated racist serfs trapped in a right wing feudal system that other countries jettisoned long ago.

This is true. I live in Italy. The UK media has been whipped into a hysterical disinformation frenzy by Farage and this, in turn, has led half the population (polls are clear) to lose the plot. For anyone who lives abroad and follows British news, it is quite evident, striking and disturbing.

The government is saying that disused railway land should be used to build more homes.

But we also need more railways too, because they are an important form of sustainable transport for a decarbonised Britain.

So this policy, to me, seems counterproductive to the aim of decarbonising transport.

Maybe you need to learn the concept of "don't generalise" then.
