A hoard of over 1900 #Roman silver coins found at Falkirk (Scotland); equivalent to 10+ years pay for an ordinary soldier. The coins range in date from 83BC to AD230, & may have been part of a bribe paid by Rome to a chieftain north of the frontier to secure peace for a while πΊAncientBlueSky

It is with crushing sadness that I share the news that Dr Kay Hartley, our mortarium extraordinaire, died last week at the age of 94.
I visited her the week before she passed, and I will forever cherish the memory of that visit. May she rest in peace and her legacy be continued.

Brexit hasn't been betrayed.
The British people have not been betrayed.
The betrayal was Brexit.
Once that is the established narrative, we can all go forward together.
It's a pair of tiny golden bees with red garnet wings. they are rather naively made but OMG they are gorgeous!
We were going to post our favorite bee mosaic for International Bee Day, but then we found these little cuties.
