All the same we have a bit of a SchrΓΆdinger’s dead ball situation. When does it become dead: after the original foul or after Haaland prevents him from saving it?

Just had another look. City indeed got a free kick so your point is correct.

Was it a free kick to city?

Given the ref allowed play to continue, surely the Haaland foul to enable the goal deserved a yellow.

Lock in at Footscray DSS. 7 cops turn up and arrest a young woman. She tells the cop to get his hands off her after he says he is arresting her.

The site of the grave of John Malcolm Eadie Fraser of Queen's Park FC and Scotland. The image shows Ged O'Brien and the wreath from the Scots Football Historians' Group. The grave is unmarked and it is likely that up to a dozen others are buried in the same lair.

1 of 5 This is now becoming an annual post. Lest we forget. OTD 1885 John Malcolm Eadie Fraser died in Sydney, Australia. I went to see his grave when I was in Australia, Dec 2024. He is buried in a Presbyterian lair in the far west of Rookwood Cemetery.

one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

Perth dominance is via school teachers and politicians.

No. You’re correct. Soccer is hegemonic in Newcastle 1910-1930. Ipswich similar. The outlier is pert metro 1900-1925 where soccer is dominant.

Massive questions Steve. Maybe I need to write a companion book. Call it Soccerphobia. The antagonism to soccer differs from state to state, region to region.

Just finished reading your excellent β€œthe game that never happened. The vanishing history of Soccer in Australia.”

Trying to understand why early media began to ignore soccer, and published the anti-Soccer letters that seem to be selected with bias. Any thoughts Ian?
