Only yesterday, the Israeli military called for the evacuation of the entire area south of the Litani River, approximately 8% of Lebanon’s territory and home to hundreds of thousands of people.

Today, they issued displacement orders for all residents of the southern suburbs of Beirut.

#EU leaders should never belittle role of int'l law or apply it selectively - as they've done since #USA/#Israel's strikes on #Iran & retaliatory strikes on neighboring countries.

This is happening at time of erosion of #RuleOfLaw, with #USA ’s rights-violating actions including retaliation against critics, expanded coercive powers & neutered democratic checks-and-balances, whose cumulative effects underpin a decided slide toward authoritarianism in the USA.

Minnesota killings are part of a broader pattern of immigration officers’ use of excessive violence. Skyrocketing arrests lead to record-high 70,000 people locked up in immigration detention centers, overcrowding & inhumane. This is part of a national campaign of terror.

A #USA that emboldens abuses at home will embolden them abroad. This is a challenge to the transatlantic relationship itself. #EU should also be fully aware of risks their nationals face due to conditions in the USA today.
