I get this question a lot. I don't have strong views on how transmasc people should dress, but since I often get the question, I've thought about it a bit. Will share some thoughts in this thread. 🧵

The Pride controversy in a nutshell:

Trans people: shit! We just got told we have no right to participate in society.

Fair-weather allies: that's awful. We feel for you.

Trans people: so, now political parties will be told they have no right to participate in Pride.

FWA: I'm outraged!

The correct response here is :

A blanket ban is symbolic of how trans people are being treated in society

We understand the anger and will work hard to ensure trans people are better protected in the UK

Until we are *invited* back to participate we will respect the wishes of the LGBT community

A trans woman wrote to Wetherspoons to ask which toilets they're meant to use. Wetherspoons replied acknowledging the Supreme Court's verdict...and that trans customers can use whichever loos they want to but to please lock the cubicle door.

The EHRC are not the answer. Tell your MP that. Explain that they have been openly campaigning against trans people for years and that they’re not trusted.

Shout it everywhere you can:

The EHRC don’t respect trans people’s human rights.

Trans people also did it WITHOUT the Labour Party.

Unison spearheaded it. Longstanding trans rights groups like TransActual, TransLucent, FGEN, and Trans Safety Network spread the word. Thousands of trans individuals and allies took it from there.

Labour made this rally necessary, not possible.

Section 28 was "the law" too - that doesn't change the fact that the people who supported it were doing so out of bigotry.

PM has said Supreme Court decision on woman definition brings ‘real clarity’ - so how come all I’ve seen in my feed the past week is ppl asking about whether it refers to genitals, chromosomes or hormones, whose going to check this & if male police can now strip search anyone they suspect is trans?

"We're not in the EU" isn't an answer to this, by the way. We still have to comply with this stuff. Especially if it impacts Northern Ireland.
