I still feel... very at peace. Very comforted, knowing my dad would have loved me no matter what. And one of the saddest parts is that he never got to meet he person that made me as happy as he always wanted me to be when I was younger.

My dad's best friend when I was a kid was this awesome trans guy, my dad was ALWAYS an ally. But sometimes I look back and wonder if maybe it was more than that. I'll never know, but I just wonder if there was a part of him he always had to keep to himself and didn't want me to feel the same way.

I'd always thought it was something he said in solidarity to me because people always thought I was queer growing up and I was bullied for it, and he wanted me to know I always did and always would have his support, even after he was gone.

Sometimes I think about how the day before my father passed away, he told me about some bigoted bullshit he'd seen on TV, and asked me why people had to be this way, and why couldn't someone be allowed to just live as themselves.

I think one of the most surefire ways to make me never touch your fic is to be a self-righteous asshole in the summary/tags by going 'my fic isnt like OTHER (x) genre fics, I actually tried', etc, etc. Generally, shitting on other ppl's fics to get me to read yours is a dick move, idk.
