Possibly – unfortunately, I didn't capture the date of publication! (Just a photo I'd taken that I stumbled across while looking for something else.) 🀦

Some more pictures.

What a colour.

(And it comes with a hardtop, too!)

Did see another reference to there being some ~30 cars in this colour but, either way, it's not common.

I'm here to grace your timeline with PURPLE PORSCHE.

In this case, a Boxster. ('00 986 3.2 S w/96k.)

Reputedly one of 12 finished in this colour.

Description sounds good, MOT history is good, and it looks great. Just need to check underneath.

Β£8,500.

Oh, good shout. Yeah, I'd still like one of those as well (I look at the Compacts with a similar eye, these days).

Cheap E30s? Here's my old 325i. Must have been '07/'08. Think I paid Β£1,000 for it. 120k on the clock.

Did have another but it wasn't quite as smart (and it was an auto).

Did the Rallye find a new home yet, or is that still up for grabs? Hope it got/gets sorted without much fuss, in any case.

I'd still like a Prelude, either a 4th- or 5th-gen one, but the prices are harder to justify now. And even the expensive ones can still be grotty.

Have to keep my eyes peeled.

This one, along with a handful of others, sticks with me – hence posting about it – because it was such a good example, the kind you'd want to own, and I'd probably still have it to this day. I've not seen one like it since, and the prices are now so high as to make them practically unobtainable.

Facebook just reminded me of a grevious error I made 10 years ago this day.

Was bidding on this #Corvette. Truly, a dream car. And it was exceptional.

Bid up to Β£31k, bailed. Went for ~Β£33k.

Could have made it work. Should have.

Popped up later at a dealer for Β£65k.

Just buy the silly cars.

Something else that just popped into my mind:

If you've never seen this, turn it up...

Also the centrepiece of a cover image that I've never forgotten. Always wondered why and how it came to be. Seemed just a bit of an odd choice. Exceptionally cool, nonetheless.

(There were a lot of other quirks and problems, too, but if you could tolerate them... A later car would be much easier to live with, anyway, thanks to having things such as windows that go up and down. 😁)

Yes. But I wouldn't rush to recommend it. It depends, though. What worried me most was the chance of someone else damaging it. Reversing into the bonnet, something like that – because it'd probably write the car off.

(Okay, it wasn't a coupe. That would be a bit more tolerable, for sure.)

I really like the wheels they've gone for here (they're from a Porsche 944).

It's a TDI, too. One very cool, compact, and frugal runabout.

Just realised that I've inadvertently posted a lot of BMW-related content recently.

So, here's something completely different:

Spotted this at the weekend. Always cool to see a Z4 Coupe but this one was also finished in the rare Phoenix Yellow Metallic. In the UK, there were only 16 (I think) 3.0si Coupes sold in this colour, and three Z4 M Coupes.

Industrial brake relining specialists, Jim Jack Services LTD Jim Jack Services Ltd offer brake relining services for all kinds of brakes. Contact our workshop in Cumbernauld on 01236 725 600

My old tractor needed a new clutch. O/E parts are available but would be four-figures.

Jim Jack Services got the plate relined and the cover refurbished for Β£270.

They do brakes and clutches for motorbikes and classic cars too. Highly recommended #motorcycle #classiccar

3.8, I think. A late one, just before the 4.0 came out.

An absolute riot. Get an article going and get it booked in. 😁

Drove a 991 GT3 on the same event and reached a similar conclusion. Felt remote and digital compared to the earlier cars. Incredibly capable, of course, but nowhere near as engaging or memorable. And the 997, on the road, was just electrifying. Much more visceral and demanding.

On a similar note, in my watch list today:

www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/...

(~390-405bhp, at a glance, w/K400.)

Drove a stock GT3 in '17. Probably would have left more of an impression on me if I hadn't hopped in a 997.2 GT3 RS immediately after. Just blew the 996 into the weeds. πŸ˜†

I deleted the wrong post there, annoyingly. Lesson learnt. Anyway, had a Z4 in that colour, didn't get on with it particularly, and I'd prefer something else (inc. black).

Anyway, this made me reconsider silver briefly (even without the PRHT)...

(Just, as I've said elsewhere, never a casual purchase – you've really got to know what you're looking at, and what you're getting into, and be prepared for it.)

They can be, yes (rod bearings, clutches, throttle actuators, etc.). And they can fail spectacularly, otherwise, as age takes its toll. An associate of mine, his burnt to the ground. Power steering leak.

But if you want a V10, coupled to a manual, they're still one of the most accessible options. πŸ‘
