Thanks Luxon, Willis et al for f***ing our economy. This is all on you & your choices. #nzpol

16.12.2025 00:37 β π 16 π 7 π¬ 4 π 1I've not been on here for ages and I'm surprised at the reaction to the Chris Hipkins interview compared to twitter. I fully agree that he/Labour needs to up their game. They should be miles ahead of National in the polls, that alone should tell them something! Start with some real Labour policies.
14.12.2025 04:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What are they doing over the ditch? They could have had a flacid Emissions Trading Scheme instead of these ridiculous, distorting subsidies. Idiots.
25.10.2025 22:02 β π 136 π 34 π¬ 2 π 2A Facebook post by Yifat Goddard shows a photo of four people standing together indoors. From left to right, a woman in a black floral dress, a man in a dark long-sleeved shirt, another man in a dark suit with glasses, and a man in a pinstriped suit. The caption mentions Brian Tamaki, Alfred Ngaro, and Nigel Woodley, noting that it was an important meeting with the deputy of the minister of foreign affairs in Israel.
After New Zealand announced it would not recognise a Palestinian state, Israeli deputy foreign minister Sharren Haskell visited the country. While here she met with Christian Zionist leaders
Brian Tamaki (Destiny Church)
Alfred Ngaro (leader of the NewZeal party)
Nigel Woodley (Flaxmere Fellowship)
You also didn't campaign on:
- cancelling the ferries
- throwing out the anti-smoking legislation
- shutting down the health system
- ditching pay equity
- NULLIFYING TE TIRITI
- requiring all legislation EVER to be approved by David Seymour
- etc etc
And yet,
They don't pay their actors and back stage crew, do they.

For what it's worth, IMO part of the role of an opposition party is it credibly articulate an alternative to the Government. If part of Labour's election platform is "here is what NACT promised and here is how they failed to deliver", I wouldn't call that abandoning its voters.

#NZ Government is minimising the potential of our Human Rights being maintained & fulfilled.
3 more years & weβre worse than on our knees.
First glimpse of decent December 2024 econ data. How are companies doing?
Well, record numbers of companies called it a day. That's nearly 8,000 companies removed from the companies register in December alone (50,000 for the year). Lots of reasons to stop trading of course... [π§΅1/n]
With grim economic news likely set to continue, we will see more of this "vibes based analysis" in the near future - as those who endorse the government's current policies look for any support they can find. New Zealand isn't back on track yet - itβs currently getting worse for working people
10.01.2025 04:27 β π 56 π 12 π¬ 2 π 0THIS. Proposed cuts would literally reduce our central maternity workforce from six (used to be *15*) to ONE. 60000 births a year, desperate shortages in clinical staff who are having to pick up loads of admin and quality βback roomβ work. One person canβt be the hub of the wheel.

For those in USA, this is what #NZpol looked like while #Congress was trying to fund your government (our system means the #CorruptCoalition can tank our country without check until the next election)

Just catching up on Luxon's Q+A interview (yikes) and something that I noted was he kept saying that rents have stopped rising under this government.
That isn't true. Not only are rents rising fast relative to past years, they're now rising faster than wages
An interesting article on heated tobacco products

I still canβt believe that Casey Costello and NZ first get to decide New Zealandβs smoking policy with zero oversight or input from the Minister of Health (as useless as he is) π€―

No, discussion is NOT closed - the Minister used his office staff and ministerial title to arrange a dinner with mining companies invited to submit fast track applications.
Which wasnβt diarised.
Then blamed his staff.
Um, WHAT?
Great work by Newsroom here.

Would you not expect protests in Wales if you replaced the bilingual Welsh & English road signs with English only?
Would you not expect protests in Northern Ireland if you replaced the bilingual Gaelic & English road signs with English only?
Why expect any different in Aotearoa New Zealand?

Woman visiting her mother in small town where he lived. She went into an ice cream parlour & there he was. Starstruck, bought her icecream. Back at car she had change in one hand & handbag in the other but no icecream so went back.
He, sitting in the corner said "it's in your handbag".
True story.
I really hope Chris Hipkins and Grant Robertson don't make any rash decisions because, let's face it, a National govt with with the worst leader in it's history plus with no real finance minister, combined with Seymour & Peters, can't help but fall apart. We'll need Chris Hipkins & Grant Robertson!
