Ahead of my flight back to DC today to vote YES on the War Powers Resolution to put a stop to Trump’s regime-change war in Iran, I spent time in the Walnut Creek District Office answering the phones and calling constituents to hear their concerns and bring them with me back to Capitol Hill.

In this year’s Community Project Funding cycle, I brought home $1 million for the City of Walnut Creek to upgrade 120 body-worn cameras for their officers and provide cutting-edge technology for the department and community (2/2).

Happy Women’s History Month! I am hosting a town hall to talk about a whole host of issues that are important to women’s equality from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in Orinda on Thursday, March 12th (1/2).

Smart signals are the way of the future, and I am proud that Contra Costa continues to be at the forefront of adopting this helpful technology (2/2).

As a senior member of @transportdems.bsky.social, I was thrilled to secure nearly $2 million for the CCTA Antioch and Oakley Smart Signals Project, which will upgrade and develop a smart signal network in East Contra Costa County to reduce commute times and alleviate congestion (1/2).

These funds will equip nearly 3,000 students in the East Bay with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to serve as environmental stewards for California’s coastline (3/3).

I’m proud to announce that I have secured more than $270,000 for the Marine Mammal Center to bring its Ocean Ambassadors Program to CA-10 (2/3).

The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito – with its commitment to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing animals that are injured, sick, or abandoned – is beloved by all who visit (1/3).

Following years of advocating for the Port Chicago 50, one of my proudest moments as a Member of Congress was receiving the call that, after 80 years of being wrongfully and discriminatorily charged, the US Navy was finally exonerating the Port Chicago 50 (1/2).

She became a National Park Ranger at the age of 85 to do just that!

Betty died last year at the age of 104, but her spirit continues to inspire Californians (4/4).

After attending a meeting on the development of the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Park, Betty was committed to sharing the first-hand experiences of women working in wartime industry, including racial segregation and discrimination (3/4).

During World War II, Betty took a job with the US Air Force before learning that they employed her only because her supervisors believed she was white. Betty promptly left and took a position with the International Boilermakers Union in Richmond as a file clerk (2/4).

We’re wrapping up our Black History Month spotlight with one of my personal heroes and an East Bay legend – Betty Reid Soskin. Betty came to call Oakland home as a young girl and graduated from Castlemont High School (1/4).
