I want to talk about the art in #AbsoluteWonderWoman #13 by @matiasbergara.bsky.social (color by #JordieBellaire). Bergara's art stands on its own while fitting in well with the overall aesthetic of Absolute #WonderWoman. I would love to see more AWW issues illustrated by #MatΓasBergara!

I enjoyed lettering this new Wonder Woman Black and Gold 2026 Special story by Steve Orlando & Rossi Gifford! I especially liked using a different lettering style than what I've done with WW in the past. In stores now!

Incredible! @rdauterman.bsky.social is one of my favorite #comicartists. Now we're getting a short story featuring #WonderWoman with #RussellDauterman art, written by @jason-aaron.bsky.social! I'm excited to read their take on Diana in April!

Wonder Woman (Volume 01) issue #118, cover date November 1960. Story titled "Wonder Woman's Impossible Decision," written by Robert Kanigher. Cover art by Ross Andru, Mike Esposito, and Ira Schnapp. The cover features Silver Age Wonder Woman kneeling on the edge of a cliff. Clinging to the side of the cliff are Manno the Merman and Steve Trevor. Wonder Woman says "Great Hera! I can save either the Merman--or Steve! But-- not both!"
Panel from Wonder Woman v1 #118. Written by Robert Kanigher. Art by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito. Letters by Gaspar Saladino. In the panel, Steve is being held underwater by a large octopus. Narration states "Weighed down by his clothing, the pilot hurtles straight down into the tentacles of..." Steve thinks "I'm caught-- by an octopus!"
Panel from Wonder Woman v1 #118. Written by Robert Kanigher. Art by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito. Letters by Gaspar Saladino. The top narration of the panel says "But, even as she falls out of reach of Merman, the girm Amazon hurls a might breath upward!" The panel features a close-up on Diana's head, her eyes closed. Her cheeks are puffed out as she uses her super breath. The bottom narration says "What does Wonder Woman hope to accomplish?"
The earliest #WonderWoman issue in my collection is #118 (Nov 1960). I'm not a big fan of Robert Kanigher's run. I found it regressive & juvenile. But I still love Diana. And it's nice to see Steve attacked by an octopus.
Steve believes he has a rival for Diana's love, so he stalks her.

I completely agree! The modern perception of WML's run seems to be tainted by Diana's biker costume and the impossible 90s women's bodies. Plus it follows PΓ©rez's run. I think WML did an amazing job of humanizing Diana without losing what makes her special. WML's run deserves more love.
07.01.2026 20:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Cover to the Wonder Woman / Tasmanian Devil Special one-shot comic book issue. The cover art was done by Jim Lee (art) and Alex Sinclair (colors). The image features the Tasmanian Devil in the midst of a large whirlwind. Diana in her Rebrith-era costume, wielding a sword and a shield, is leaping dramatically towards the Tasmanian Devil.
Art from Wonder Woman / Tasmanian Devil Special one-shot's first story, titled The Devil You Know, written by Tony Bedard. Artwork by Barry Kitson (pencils), John Floyd (inks), Lovern Kindzierski (colors), and Dave Sharpe (letters). The image features two full-color panels. The left panel features Diana, clad in a white robe with a red cloak adhered by a gold clasp, looking up at the Tasmanian Devil. His mouth is open, a bit of drool hanging from his bottom lip. In the word bubble coming from Taz is an image of Diana on a platter with an apple in her mouth. The right panel features a closeup of Diana, displaying a slight smirk. She responds by saying "Really, now? I'm surprised you'd even bother to cook me."
Artwork from the Wonder Woman / Tasmanian Devil Special one-shot's second story, titled Trojan Horseplay. Story by Tony Bedard. Artwork by Ben Caldwell. Letters by Dave Sharpe. There are two panels. The left panel features Diana as Helen of Sparta, clad in a short white toga, with Daffy Duck as Menelaus, also in a short white toga. Diana says "I'm Helen of Spart. In all of the world, there's no one so fair, no comelier girl." Daffy says "I'm King Menelaus, I'm kind of a schmuck. But hitched to this gal, I am one lucky duck!" In the right panel we see Taz, causing chaos with a big smile on his face and his tongue hanging out. He says "I'm Paris, a prince. I just sailed here from Troy. Please pardon my breath, I don't mean to annoy..." Beneath Taz is the word BONK!
In 2017, #DCComics did a series of crossovers with #LooneyTunes. #WonderWoman crossed over with the Tasmanian Devil. It felt like a strange choice but #TonyBedard wrote a fantastic issue. Fun, with great character moments for both Diana and Taz. And just silly enough. Highly recommend.

07.01.2026 01:49 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The biggest uncollected era for Diana is the mid-70s to mid-80s. The Golden Age omnis are almost caught up to the Silver Age omnis which are almost caught up to the Diana Prince era. I'm hoping that means some Bronze Age omnis and DC Finest books in our future! So many great stories from that era.

Back in the '90s, comic trades weren't as common. Some of the earliest #WonderWoman trades collected issues by #WilliamMessnerLoebs & #MikeDeodatoJr. Thirty years later, #DCComics has collected over 600 issues of Wonder Woman in various formats. Fewer than 200 issues remain uncollected.

I found something cool at an antique shop. It's the first widely published issue of #Ms featuring #WonderWoman on the cover (art by Miriam Wosk) from July 1972. Ms. is a feminist magazine started by Gloria Steinem. Steinem was reportedly offended by the late 60s depowered #DianaPrince era.

Panel from "The Age of Wonder" by FΓ‘bio Moon. It features Wonder Woman standing over a restrained and defeated (but not dead) hydra. Three young adults clad in Wonder Woman (and Wonder Girl) inspired outfits take in the scene and Diana.
While we're on the subject of the #75thAnnivesary special, this panel from "The Age of Wonder" by @fabiomoon.bsky.social struck a chord. Diana inspires those around her and those touched by her stories. This story felt like finding kindred spirits.

@kellythompson.bsky.social and @cleanlined.bsky.social's #AbsoluteWonderWoman remains the best #WonderWoman book. The writing is fantastic. The art is out of this world. And DIANA is characterized so well. She's kind and compassionate and it's conveyed as STRENGTH. I love this book.

I am so thankful for Absolute Wonder Woman. While the main #WonderWoman title has felt truly anti-feminist to me lately, Absolute WW is bringing every once of power and magic that I have needed. Our world is clouded in hatred. It's wonderful to have a book that doesn't shy away from women's power.
